Awful news. My all time hero and the greatest man to have been associated with this club IMO. Was lucky to meet him once. When my daughter was younger, we were in Glasgow and i took her to his "Soccer Circus". Paid to go in and a lady who I had no idea who at the time came across and made conversation as she had seen me wearing a retro 80s style toon top. Turns out it was Jean/mrs Keegan and she then went to find the king who unbelievably came and talked to me for what seemed like ages. Signed my shirt then we went round the  Soccer Circus activities. There I was trying to boot the ball against some figures of players when a voice from nowhere said "Go on Geordie" and as I turned round KK was stood behind me. He was telling me where to hit the ball etc. I couldn't believe it. Surreal, and I wasn't great to start with but lost all composure. Despite his coaching, balls were straying everywhere except where they were meant to. What a man! Not religious but he's worth praying for.

Hope he beats it.

However, I'm not saying it didnt happen but Ive got no recollection of "walking in a Keegan wonderland". That was Bobby's tune wasn't it ? KK's was just "Keegan....Keegan...Keegan". Sounds drab when written down but in grounds it took on a power of its own.

We definitely sang it regularly, first song that comes to mind for me with Keegan. Aye sang it for Bobby too.

First time round definitely - can't remember for sure the second time, but assume so too.

Na. No recollection of that at all. Strange how the memory works.

Keegan just has this spark that’s so infectious. Impossible not to feel optimistic listening to him talking when you see those old clips. There’s really nobody like him and we were very lucky to have him at that time.

Always be my no.1

And massively underrated as a coach/tactician.

It was always the Keegan song when a was a kid then it got sang when he came back loads as well

Felt abit cheap using it for Robson

100% was a regular popularized song during his first stint. After we beat Blackburn in the cup in 95 the fans in the background of the Sky box sung it for about 30minutes solid whilst they broadcast

Was a lush moment when Keegan came back with Man City and the crowd sung Keegan wonderland and after a few bursts it had become Robson wonderland, like a passing of the torch.

What a strange feeling presided that day. Just as when he came back you could feel change in the air (and I didn't even know him as a player and it was palpable) that day and ther rest of that week just depressed the place, again not personally but generally palpably.

How often is a manager leaving reported like that?

"Newcastle's Lord Mayor says 'this is a black day for the city'"

Mentioned before but my dad came to school to tell me.

Extraordinary really. Combination of a special man and a special city.

Our last league game saw Eddie and co. pull level with King Kev for total number of top flight games managed (Premier -ship and League). Looking at the relative performance gives lie to the accepted wisdom that Keegan's teams couldn't defend and were our most free-scoring in living memory. In their 162 top flight league games, Keegan's teams conceded 30 fewer goals than Howe's; and Howe's teams scored 12 more goals than Keegan's. No surprise then that Keegan has the better goal difference, by 18. KK also has, more importantly, the better points per game with 1.76 (1.85 in his first spell) versus Howe's 1.69; still our second best in Premier era.

I remember that 'dodgy defence/keeper' narrative emerging during the 93/94 season. Conceded 3 less goals than champions Man United with Schmeichel in nets and two more than them the year they pipped us to the title.

Eddie's Mags, the true Entertainers.

Trying to find some context for these, I think this is the top list for managers in the PL era:

1. Pep - 2.29

2. Fergie - 2.17

3. Klopp - 2.11

4. Mancini - 2.05

5. Conte - 2.03

6. Mourinho / Slot () - 2.02

8 Arteta - 2.00

9. Wenger - 1.97

10. Tuchel - 1.94

Emery is at 1.82

Pochettino at 1.77

Ten Hag at 1.72

SBR at 1.60 as above

Keegan at 1.55 because of City

Eddie at 1.38 because of Bournemouth
