biggs Posted February 1, 2008 Share Posted February 1, 2008 by the way lads, thought i should post this in here, five live interviewed redknapp this morning about the benjani situation and as he was going off air, they asked him did ashley tell him bout wise and the set up when he was offered the job, his response was simply no. That he would have wanted to bring his own people in, and that the wise thing was never mentioned, interesting, as it leads me to assume that the same was done for keegan? Keegans already said that he was made fully aware of the intentions and he was given a list of names, one of which was Wise, before he took the job. The former Italy international, who was voted Chelsea supporters' favourite player of all time, was asked to join the coaching staff at Stamford Bridge by owner Roman Abramovich when Jose Mourinho left the club. Zola, who is the current Italy under-21 coach, was also approached about a role in the new-look St James' Park boardroom when his former team-mate Dennis Wise was appointed a football director in January. Zola turned down both offers to continue his education with the Italian football federation but he has not ruled out returning to work in England eventually when he feels the time is right. He said: "Mr Abramovich tried to bring me back. He was very good to me but I said it is may be something for the future. Right now I don't feel ready to work for a club that I care so much for. "I haven't spoken to Dennis but somebody else contacted me and asked if I wanted to do something with Newcastle. Unfortunately I have commitments with the Italian federation and I would like to carry on what I am doing. Optimistic Nut Posted April 16, 2008 Share Posted April 16, 2008 I'd imagine Wise would still talk to Zola about young players in Italy being as they're good friends.
