Rumours I've heard tonight

You need assets to asset strip. The only thing we have are players and a stadium.

Don't we have a lease on a lovely garage?

Heard some rumours tonight from a good source.  I won't say who he is, but he is connected to a former major  shareholder of the club. Anyhoo;

* Mike Ashley has been trying to sell the club for the last 3-4 months but no-one wants to buy. The crux of the matter is said to be the casino deal falling through, which ties in with what was mentioned  in the Chron, about the club having to pay back a £5million loan.

* Keegan took the managers job because he is said (alledgedly)  to have money problems, with Soccer Circus losing money.

* Wise was brought in as a safety net if we do go down. Apparently KK doesn't want to manage in the Championship if we are relegated. Wise will take the reins.

* Asset stripping is also said to be going on internally

Again - this is just rumour and it's also from a man who happens to have an agenda against Mike Ashley  for forcing him out of the club. This man also happened to be at the match today, when I thought he'd been barred. Or did he just lose his box?

Not saying it is all true, but I thought these worth sharing non-the-less.

anyone but the fat bastard Fred

People such as mick will tell you that because he called us nasty names and ate all the pies, made all the managerial decisons on his own and backed his managers more than anybody in the previous 50 years [strange one that like] we would automatically do miles better without Fat Fred the fat bastard at the helm.

Things are going absolutely brilliantly since the fat bastard left and took his pies home with him, and so we are of course doing massively better because anything we didn't do perfectlly in the past was all the fault of the fat bastard and his pies which were obvously alright

We've came on leaps and bounds since he left

Bravo. Just the sort of positive attitude we need right now. We are fighting for our lives and people are still sniping away with one track agendas.

As for NE5 - you've lost me. I live in NE5 (Fenham) if that's what you mean.

NE5 is a poster on here, highly regarded amongst many and vehemently anti-Shepherd.

sadly, yourself and others would have more merit if you actually could bring yourself to admit that getting rid of the Halls and the fat bastard hasn't led to the automatic improvement that you said it would, in fact its all getting very much worse and there is a distinct possibily we could end up where the Halls and Shepherd found us in 1992.

Hasn't everything been just great since last summer.......

Heard from a good source, poo-poo it if you like, but Ashley has had absolutely no interest in the casino from day one. I'd imagine the others are as accurate as the first one.

Bravo. Chatting on internet message boards seriously affects the performance of the players. About as much as calling women dogs in fact.

sadly, yourself and others would have more merit if you actually could bring yourself to admit that getting rid of the Halls and the fat b******

They only person that got rid of Shepherds was John Hall by selling his shares to Ashley behind Shepherds back. John Hall has not been arsed about the club for years are approx about the same time we didn't move a new stadium, hence why he left the board & his daughter got on board to join her brother.

Sir John Hall done a video interview with the Chronicle on their site and he says both the shepherds and Halls agreed a share price to sell the club for when he went to meet Ashley and another interested party.

If Ashley takes a fair bit of the blame for the current situation the previous regime should take just as much. At least.

Didnt Shepherd from his deathbed make sure he got 1p per share more than Hall (and everyone else)

For someone who was bitching that people would apportion blame to Shepherd if Allardyce went tits up, but credit Ashley if it went well, some seem very quick to do exactly the inverse, which is just as wrong.  Heh.

The groundwork for this shitstorm started years ago.

Chris Mort gives Kevin Keegan vote of confidence at Newcastle United

Kevin Keegan today received the backing of Newcastle United's chief executive following their 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers at St James' Park.

Chris Mort insisted the beleagured manager would soon turn results around, despite his side having failed to win any of the seven games they have played since his return to the club.

Newcastle lie just three points above the Barclays Premier League relegation zone but Mort said: "Clearly Kevin wants to turn results around, that's what he has come in to do. It is disappointing but it will come. Kevin has got the players playing very well and I am sure the results will follow.

"He has come to a club that didn't change its manager in the middle of the season because things were going well. It wasn't going well and the team were playing poorly. Results reflected that and Kevin came in knowing it was going to be difficult to turn it round. That's what he's working on and he's got the team playing in a manner everyone in this part of the world appreciates."

Mort is also confident that Keegan will see out the job and not walk away as he has done in past pressurised situations with Newcastle, Manchester City and England.

"There is no doubt or worry [about that]," Mort said. "Kevin is enjoying being back in Newcastle. He is clearly at home in the city and has been made very welcome. Once the football turns round I am sure he will be thoroughly enjoying it."

There has already been talk of unrest behind the scenes with doubt surrounding how much input Keegan had over the appointments of Dennis Wise as executive director of football and, more recently, Chris Hughton as assistant manager. But Mort was quick to play down that speculation, saying of Wise's role: "When we interviewed Kevin for the manager's position we said we wanted a particular structure in place with someone experienced working with the board, particularly on recruitment and developing the Academy.

"At that time we had narrowed it down to two or three names and we gave those names to Kevin. He knew the structure and the individuals involved and we wanted to make sure he was comfortable with it."

And regarding Hughton's job, Mort said: "Kevin made the first call to see if he was interested. I got involved after Kevin and Chris had talked and Chris expressed a great desire to come and work at Newcastle United."

Mort took up his position last summer following Mike Ashley's takeover of the club. Since then there has been constant talk that Ashley may look to sell, but Mort insists he is keen to stay. "Mike doesn't get down," Mort said. "He enjoys his Saturday afternoon football and would probably enjoy it more if results were going well. He is fully supportive of Kevin and fully enjoys his football. We haven't sought anyone to buy the club.

"People have called us. People will say, 'Are you interested in selling Newcastle?' and the conversations don't go any further because we're not.

"Mike is the owner of the club and it will be his decision but he is not encouraging me to sell the club."
