St.James' being extended, 52,000 geordies piled into such a lovely ground.

may well have got beat, but just thinking back of my trip to alkmaar in EUROPE makes me wonder whats happened over the last couple of years?

we have turned into such a shit club, but that trip was immense, love for us to be in europe again!  :smitten:

2 reasons above why i love newcastle: st.james.park says it all really, and then watching your side in europe and travelling about a little bit shows me that i love them...

Thought the atmosphere a few years back against Chelsea and Spurs in the FA Cup 5th and 6th round respectively was quite something.

Really thought we'd go on to win it that year (Shame we had Souness as manager!)

2J, get one of those vids of Cole knocked up man

93/94 Season is next up that's for sure as a review compilation, as 92/93 have been done and 95/96. I'll make a Cole one at some point after that and 94/95 seasons have been done. So many class memories from back then. Shame I was only a bairn really as I obviously didn't comprehend it all at the time, but I certainly knew I was part of something special.

Does anyone else remember the Cole compilation the BBC did at the end of that season.  Started with "Like taking Cole to Newcastle" I watched that fucker over and over.  I'd love to see that one again.

I vaguely remember something like that. Showed him in a Black and White Santa suit handing presents out in one of the clips and training in snow one day? Sure of it.

In some pub with my Man Utd-supporting friend watching the 4-3 come in on Soccer Saturday.

Didn't have a clue what went on with the Keane sending off that day, I was at the opposite end of the pitch. I just remember screaming abuse at him (which was the norm really.)

Singing songs in the torrential rain outside the Nou Camp.

Laurent Robert vs Spurs.

Robert Lee at Wembley.

Bellamy converting the rebound.

Emre's perfect free kick.

2-0 down to win 3-2 at Fulham.

I remember going up to the training once and him and Clarkie taking KK down in the snow and pelting him with snowballs.

Then another time it was too bad outside to train, so KK took them all in to place 5-a-side and invited us all into the sports hall to sit in the stands and watch. What a man.

Melan, fuck off with your depressive overtones. Seriously. You're acting like a fanny at a party where everyone's dancing and losing themselves while you're muttering "shit song this" to yourself. Post some of your fave moments. Oh and HP's spot on. Shit club? No fucking way.

Very random game but:

Newcastle 4-1 Real Mallorca. My first taste of St James Park, loved every second of it.

Four years ago yesterday, that. :smug:

In spite of the heartbreak of getting knocked out of the Champions League, that run in the UEFA Cup was dead good. There was only really the Valerenga one that was a pants game.

This thread is actually depressing me.

It's having the opposite effect on me.

We need something to remind us of why exactly we put ourselves through this week in week out.

Sure I'll get all the 'outsider' stuff again for this, but I absolutely adore coming up on the train before a game, meeting with some of you lot for a pint, then walking up to SJP. It'll never, EVER lose its appeal. Our ground is bloody gorgeous.

I went once and KK must have lost in one of his games or something because he was being blasted with balls for his punishment, everyone was in stiches and he was saying something like the person with the hardest shot was getting sold to sunderland which obviously raised a lot of laughs with the fans.

I'd like to see the input from a lot of older members as well. (Mick excluded like as he's more fossilised now than actually being classed as an older member.)

Have to echo this. I've not been up many times (which is probably why it's so uber-special). Walking up to the ground from the train station is just brilliant.

Aye the pub to stadium walk is quality.  Pint in your belly, bine in your hand and the certainty of a win in your heart if not your head.

Got to love coming up the stairs and into the stands when the ground is buzzing right before kick off.

The lush green of the pitch as it hits you when you're climbing the stairs and into one of the many entry points, that's something that always strikes me and gets me all the time, just how green it is. There is no grass on earth as green as lush as it, so striking. TV doesn't do that pitch justice, nor the stadium in fact.
