Pre/Post match trouble?

Couldn't get through the crowd outside the away turnstiles after the game, but it  was basically a happy mob of Toon fans taking the p**s. Stewards let me and the bairn in the ground, via the big gates in the corner. Then we walked along the Leazes track before leaving the ground. Confusion as some stewards said you could go in the ground, then others tried to throw you back out.

Our bus home was stuck at the lights on the "box office " corner while the coppers removed another throng of jubilant toon fans from the mackems coaches. Again much mickey taking was being enjoyed.

Seemed more of a sing off than anything. The chances of the fans getting to each other looked slim. Seen a few Toon fans pinned down by the law.

Can imagine it being quite a mission to get those train travellers back to central, but considering they had the option of a relatively quiet, free bus, i think they're asking for trouble.

I was in Gengis (whatever it is called now) at around 4.45pm, Central Station was a complete no go area. Knuckle head toon fans full of beer, out of the Sports Bar, hundreds of coppers & bemused women, children & a sprinkling of mackems.

Embarrassing doesn't cover it

Central was a bit mad after the match like. I went to the Union Rooms for a couple of pints with my mate before heading home. Usually I have a wander along and get the bus from the stop opposite the station. Had I thought on, I'd have headed the other way and got the bus further up, but I went my usual way and there was loads of people out on the street, police around. It soon became apparent that the buses had been diverted, a few twats were starting to hoy bottles around and a few groups charged about here and there after alleged Mackem sightings. It was starting to get a bit ugly, so I got out the way.

I wouldn't say it was anything different to any other derby day, but it's not the sort of thing you want happening. It will have been people who've sat in the pub all day drinking and using the match as an excuse to act like twats and have a fight. Fucking pricks.

I was working on ONeils and im embarrassed to be a geordie. The police had to push everyone back into our bar and stand at the entrance at one point. All of the trouble seemed to be caused by geordies, it was pathetic.

Aye, I totally agree. It was really embarassing to see. I couldn't see any Mackems about at all (not that it would be an excuse even if there was). Unfortunately everywhere has its fair share of dickheads, even Tyneside. :(

Saw very little myself. Like many others I got caught up with the goings-on between the police / mackems / Geordies outside the Leazes after the match, but I didn't see anything nasty, just a load of songs from our lot. I couldn't even see the mackems, there were too many of us and police in the way.

After that I went for a game of snooker on Stowell Street (Well not literally ON Stowell Street, that would just be silly! :D) and whilst it was as quiet as a mouse in there, I did hear numerous sirens going off outside and heard the copper chopper flying round overhead. I half-expected it to look like Beirut when I left (Or should that be Sunderland?) with burnt out cars and ruined buildings everywhere but I saw nothing at all in the way of damage to anything etc anywhere.

Does anyone have an e mail address worth sending that video to?

:police: :police: :police: :police: :police: :police: :police: :police: :police: :police: :police: :police:

That's probably why it's been taken down.

Wouldn't it be incredibly unfortunate if someone had a copy of it from before it was taken down

If you have, pass it on to the Police. That'd serve the c*nts right.

To whoever it was. I can't speak for around O'Neils, but people were being pushed back everywhere, including people who had no idea there was a game on today (it is possible, a lot of people don't care). I'm not police-slagging here, they had a plan and it worked. I was getting the run around just trying to go westwards, it wasn't even always clear where they wanted you to go. This may have added to some of the post match tension.

It's true about the villa fan cos BBC are reporting it. s*** like that puts derby days in perspective......

Can you not read? fuck me.

The BBC said there are unconfirmed reports that the victim of a road accident was a rival fan. Even if it was a Brum fan that happened to run over a Villa fan it could still have been an accident. Rumours like that are bloody dangerous.

It looks a lot less coincidental if you know the name of the person killed, if you get my drift.

I'm intrigued about that vid! Can anyone shed some light on it's content?

If its the one I've seen there are a few of our lot giving them abuse on one side of the platform, then a group of mackems run across the tracks and give the lads a bit of a hiding. It is very shaky at the start so all you see is a load of people running over to the platform, and then the camera moves and then a few lads are on the ground. Not a big scrap to be fair.

It looks like one lad on the ground and up to 10 mackems around him with 4 or 5 getting into him.
