ponsaelius
Blackpool are screwed. Ormerod is their only available striker who's scored more than 1 goal for the club
Disco
After being linked with 20m+ moves for the likes of Maicon, Cole, Thiago Silva... they end up with Carvalho at 7m. Reality setting in even at that place, I guess. They are still sitting at about 60m net spend for the season, mind. Carvalho is a very good player if he can stay fit. That has been a massive question the last few seasons though. Interesting how Chelsea go about replacing him. They've lost quite a few of their older players this close season. Always been a great fan of Carvalho. If he stays fit he'll do a good job for them, only short term but it will work. You'll grow to loathe him. He is the absolute master of the sly foul. Couldn't think of a defender more suited to the Spanish game.

See my love of Uruguay and Luis Suarez for reference. Also my sending off in the recent red v blue game for diving and kicking the ball away.

Played as a defender when younger, one of the best things in a game is niggling away at the opposition off the ball trying to get them to react. It's how you know the good players from the radges. This is the first galáctico-less transfer window for RM with Pérez in charge, by the way (unless you count Mou as a galáctico signing). Casillas Ramos Carvalho Pepe/Albiol Arbeloa Alonso Khedira Kaká/Van der Vaart Cronaldo Higuaín Di María Can't see this side playing Inter football, to be frank, but they'll be solid. Village Idiot
One of my favorite tactics when playing as keeper was fouling the forwards when I rushed out to catch a ball excusing myself with the momentum. It drove them mad and I was never sent off in all my career. Guess it comes with the latin genes
ponsaelius
Still think Di Maria was a massive waste of cash.
Village Idiot
They needed a natural winger though, playing Kaká or Marcelo there was just utter waste (one of the reasons Kaká was so poor, too).
Disco
Still think Di Maria was a massive waste of cash. Think he'll do ok but he was overpriced. He will give them balance though. Can also play in a 4-4-2 should they be so inclined with him on the left and then Leon/Canales/CR9 on the right with the two more defensive operators in the middles with Higuain/Benzema/CR9/whoever else they have upfront. Dokko
Can't believe Fulham turned down £2m for Schwarzer. Good solid keep but 37 years old and in the last year of his contract and wanting to go, that's a fantastic fee imo.
Village Idiot
Nice team but they can definitely upgrade on the lb position. They have Marcelo, who's good going forward but a definite liability at the back. And Drenthe of course...
ponsaelius
Marcelo and Drenthe are both poor defenders and Arbeloa is a natural RB. The fact they haven't bought a LB of quality is typical of Madrid/Perez.

I think once the likes of Dempsey, Hangeland & Gera start leaving, they'll become a relegation candidate again. I give them 3 more years in the Premier League before going the way of Charlton.
