Dammit, this Senderos transfer is looking more and more unlikely! Spose it's better than playing Silvestre though!

We walked away from the Senderos deal weeks ago, Wenger wanted a daft fee.

Ins mean nothing if theyre not as good as the outs though. Distin isn't up there with Lescott.

All that matters is how the new team does, and it looks like a decent team to me.

More or less decent than when they had Lescott? Because progress is all that matters as far as Im concerned, regardless of whether a team looks decent or not.

Understood, but now they've been able to buy Heitinga and...er....the Russian guy with that money. It looks like a better team all round to me, but the odds of it ever getting on the pitch (Jagielka, Arteta and Yak?) are low.

Problem: Half of those players  = injured right now. Squad depth is questionable.

More likely to look like this, I think:

Howard

Heitinga Jagielka Distin Baines

Neville

Pienaar Arteta Cahill Bilyaletdinov

Yakubu

True about half of these players are injured. But I don't think squad depth is questionable.

Tim Howard

Carlo Nash

Johnny Heitinga (tbc), Phil Jagielka, Sylvain Distin, Leighton Baines

Tony Hibbert, Joseph Yobo, Jack Rodwell

Mikel Arteta, Phil Neville, Tim Cahill, Marouane Fellaini, Steven Pienaar, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov

Leon Osman, Dan Gosling

Yakubu Aiyegbeni

Louis Saha, Jô, James Vaughan

I am not sure about the formation Moyes favours this year.

Yobo is an able deputy in central defence.

Phil Neville is an able deputy right back

I can't decide who should be in first team midfield, but Mikel Arteta, Steven Pienaar and Diniyar Bilyaletdinov (apparently) are all versatile, ie able covers for other injured midfielders.

Louis Saha and Jo are able deputies.

Players like Leon Osman and Hibbert, despite being a bit crap, played integral parts in recent Everton campaigns and they could still do solid unspectacular jobs. Carlo Nash is a bit crap but goalie is unlikely to be injured.

Dan Gosling has demonstrated that he has a real eye for goals.

Jack Rodwell ahs demonstrated maturity beyond his years.

It is a shame that James Vaughan is perma-injured.

I think Everton's squad depth is decent, better than most. Don't forget they achieved 5th position despite having players like Yakubu, Arteta, Cahill out for a long spell.
