Not really said anything wrong there.

He's not been good enough on the pitch but he's got the right attitude judging by that article.

I'm no fan of Taylor, but if we could transfer his attitude to the many players in the squad with better ability, then we wouldn't be where we are now.

Too many big name players are showing a lack of self belief at the moment and that's something you could never accuse Taylor of.

What Taylor said has been said by many, many, many other players in various ways already.

Why should we expect them to listen to him? Everyone knows the total shitheap we now find ourselves in.

So basically everyone else should stick their chest out and pretend to be passionate. Great.

how do you know he's pretending?

Good point. He's probably extremely passionate when applauding the fans and shouting at his team mates.

You may not rate Taylor as a player, but when it comes to saying what needs to be said he does. Fingers crossed his team mates are as switched on.

EXCLUSIVE: At last some good news for Newcastle as Taylor's injury is not as bad as first feared

By JOHN EDWARDS Last updated at 12:11 PM on 25th March 2009

Steven Taylor has given crisis club Newcastle a massive boost by sailing through a scan on his damaged ankle and setting his sights on their key relegation battle with Stoke.

Newcastle chiefs were bracing themselves for losing their England Under 21 defender for the rest of the season after fearing he had torn ligaments in last Saturday's 3-1 home defeat by Arsenal.

But he was given the all-clear late last night (Tuesday) after a scan showed he had suffered nothing worse than bruising.

Taylor, raised on Tyneside and fiercely committed to the Newcastle cause, was said to be 'hugely relieved' and anxious to return to an increasingly uphill struggle for Barclays Premier League survival at the earliest opportunity.

He still seems likely to miss Newcastle's next match with Chelsea, a week on Saturday, but now hopes to be fit for the relegation showdown with Stoke at the Britannia Stadium seven days later, where his battling qualities will be needed more than ever.

After being forced off against Arsenal, Taylor limped away from St James' Park on crutches, his bruised and swollen ankle in an air-cast.

'There were real worries about how long he would be out for,' said a Newcastle insider.

'People were talking about a month being the worst-case scenario, but if a tear had shown up on the scan, that would have been it for the season. Now he could be back in two weeks.'

Steven Taylor has suffered a recurrence of the ankle injury which forced him to miss Newcastle's last two games prior to the Tottenham defeat.

The defender picked up the problem against Arsenal in late March and missed the games against Chelsea and Stoke as a result.

The 23-year-old returned to the starting line-up for the trip to Spurs but was forced off at half-time after the injury flared up again.

Taylor is set to have a scan on Tuesday to give the club a better indication of how long they will be without the former England Under-21 international.

"We felt Steven was ready to start and he'd had a good couple of days' training," manager Alan Shearer told the club's official website.

"But he felt it again and we had to take him off at half-time.

"He'll have a scan on Tuesday so we'll know more then."

The Magpies will be hoping that the injury is not too serious as they head into the run-in four points from safety with five games remaining

Probably out for Pompey at the very, very least.

One of the very few players in our squad who actually gives a shit out for the most important match of the season.

f*** our life.
