Shape of things to come

I think we should sign Zigic, Plasil, Krancjar, Arteta, Cuellar and Arshavin immediately. If Keegan can't get that lot to sign for £20m all in then tell him to pack his bags and fuck off. The useless cunt.

Ho ho ho.

16th August 2008- Newcastle travel to Manchester United on the opening day of the season. Its been a close season of frustration for the Magpies, seeing top targets snapped up by other rivals. Keegan selects new signing Sebastian Larsson in midfield while the other only signing of note, Danny Guthrie starts on the bench. It takes the reigning champions 3 minutes to take the lead and they blitz the Geordies in a one sided first half leading 3-0 at the break. Newcastle keep Man Utd at bay until an injury time 4th. Danny Guthrie makes his first team bow after 80 mins. After the game KK says the second 45 minutes was something to build on but he expected to lose anyway. He promises to keep going till the deadline to bring in new faces.

I hope that's the only thing you got right!

23rd August- Newcastle are up and running. A late Michael Owen header is enough at SJP to see off Bolton 1-0. Its not pretty but its a start and in a post game press conferance KK admits he is very close to bringing two new figures to the club.

28th August- Following days of press speculation, nufc.co.uk announces United have sealed the signing of Bobby Zamora and secured Jonny Evans on loan from Man Utd for the season. Eric Gates is beside himself with rage on the 3 Legends phone in.

30th August- More woe on the road as Arsenal brush Newcastle aside 4-0 at the Emirates with dynamo Andrei Arshavin at the hub of the Gunners play. KK admits United had bid for the Russian but the lure of Champions League football was too great. KK perks up the Toon Army with the news he expects one further new face this summer before the window slams shut.

31st August- A frustrating day as the window shuts till January with no new incoming players. Youngster Jonny Godsmark joins Leeds on loan for a season.

1st September- The Chronicle reveals Uniteds 11th hour bid for Shaun Wright Phillips stalled after disagreements between messrs Wise and Keegan.

2nd September- Michael Owen announces his contract will be sorted out in "the next 6 weeks or so."

13th September- Following days of tabloid rumours (The News of the World screaming TOON AT WAR on its back page), the Premiership resumes and its a nightmare at SJP. Despite super sub Guthrie scroing a 75th minute pearler at the Leazes End, a disputed free kick sees Hull bag their first Premiership point. A ticked off home crowd boo their side off.

14th September- Sunday press say KK is on his bike. Stony silence at St James'.

15th September- At 11am, nufc.co.uk release a short statement,

"We would like to announce that Kevin Keegan has today resigned his role as first team manager."

17th September- Dennis Wise announces he would be happy to take on first team duties if offered the role......

I remember reading this when it was posted during the summer and thinking it sounded about right.

This thread is actually the perfect testament to how completely predictable this whole melt down was.  The adage 'never a dull moment with this club' no longer applies.  This is all very dull.  Failure has become a fucking habit.
