He had a decent-ish Euros, but far from anything impressive and it's not like tournament performances are worth anything anyway. Hell, Kazim Kazim had a far better tournament than he did. I doubt the club are going to go out and buy a player they haven't scouted though, and without wanting to read too much into his comments about wanting to come to Newcastle to partner Owen I'd say there's a good chance that he knew we were watching him. But what I do know is that Ameobi is shit and at nearly 27 isn't getting any better. Derdiyok is a 20 year old current regular international.. I'd be more then happy replacing Ameobi with Derdiyok.
