Syrette
Once again, not all Southerners are cockney. Denis Wise comes from a South London family of scum. (Source is a mate who's a copper). Wise is from west London. Jimenez is from London too but not all Londoners are cockneys. As far as I know Vetere isn't a Londoner and I don't know about Llambias. Ashley is from the same county I was born in and I'm certainly not a cockney.
Robster
I think your taking the use of the term too literally mate When people use the term "cockney", they arent thinking in their heads "someone born within the sound of the bow bells"... its just an easy way of making reference to where they are from, i.e. the South
Guest optimistic nit
but then if i was to refer to a mackem, scouser or someone from yorkshire (Yorkshireman?) as a geordie i think you'd have something to say about it.

You hear people quite often on the radio (and I would say then if they are in broadcasting its very poor) refer to anyone from the North East as Geordie's. Of course its factually untrue but its just an easy way of reference so that people know what or who they are talking about. Nothing worth getting offended about i wouldnt have thought. Guest optimistic nit
the south is a bit bigger than the north east though. not everyone from london is a cockney, i'm not. but reffering to someone from the west country, essex or norfolk as a cockney is a bit suspect . its the equvilent of calling someone from liverpool a geordie. I didn't say I was offended, I just don't see the point in using it as a derogatory term. The term seems to have a a negative connotation to some on here. I know people from all over this country and the Londoners I know are some of the most sound people I've met. I don't hear many or any people referring to everyone from the north east as Geordies. If they did I'd say exactly the same thing, not everyone from the north east is a Geordie.
Baggio
Wise is such a twat for going out and buying a striker when Keegan didn't want one, anyone would think we had a problem up front or something.

I know what you know mean. Even people from West Lond arent cockney's but I think its just always been a lazy way for people in the north east to refer to people from the south (or at least the surrounding areas of London). With there not being any specific label for people from those counties, to bunch them all in with the london/cockney label has just been easy. No offence meant
Guest optimistic nit
i'm not offended, i just wanted to point that out. i know what you're saying. i just find it quite funny to think of the hobbits having a cockey accent.

Guest elbee909
I was born in London - Bow actually (which is nowhere near Bow Bells, they're in Cheapside, not that I give a shit). My mum moved down from Hebburn with my late gran in the 70s. Strictly speaking then I'm as cockney as they come. So why do I hate them? Feel far, far from proud when I go to away matches in London. I think I hate any tribal, local-is-best, insular bollocks thinking. And some Newcastle folk are just as bad as Londoners in this respect, the irony being they're first to bemoan that attitude while steeping themselves in it. Thomson Mouse
Just thought I'd say, think the stick he's got today has been pathetic and uncalled for. He may not be everyones cup of tea, but this has nothing to do with him. This looks between Ashley, KK, and Llambias to sort out, so let's back off Wise a bit. It has everything to do with Wise (and Jiminez). He's a horrible little cunt,

He's a horrible little cunt, Fair play to Wise for buying a striker I say, we were clearly desperate for something extra up top and everyone could see it except Keegan. If he thought Smith and Shola were going to start performing then he deserved sacking.

madras
i think it's actually spin by the club but if there was truth in the story that only guthrie (the lowest profile of the incomers and probably the one most likely to be a squad player) was keegans choice. aswell as,as baggio says if keegan couldn't see the need for a striker above the need for a back up left back. this is showing political style tactics with spin and breiefing against being use by both sides. Might want to get your tin hat out. i'll get mine and all then, i'm with baggio on that one - would rather he deflected questions than fucking lie outright personally i think although the reports will be exagerrated about KK's list there will be an element of truth in it as there is in most of this stuff, i know it was a talk in but he's telling people his dream signing would be thierry henry at age 31 (?) with persistent injury problems and being frankly not the player he was 4 years ago not messi, kaka, ronaldo (manu), eto'o, xavi or torres but henry... Guest lktmpl
I am absolutely fed up of this nonsense.... A few threads down you guys can do nothing but praise Gutierrez and Coloccini. Guthie and Bassong look like great prospects also - who do you think bought these? Keegan?? - I think if he did he wouldn't have left. Our scouts for the first time in my 30years of supporting the club have done a great job and we apparently made a profit on transfers this season. Sometimes i think everyone would have been happier if the same players cost 30 million more and we were losing money. For the first time we are being run properly. Everyone moans about the waste of money luque, boumsong, etc cost but also moan when we don't spend enough. If Gutierrez cost 15mill would he do as our wow signing on performance so far - or would Viana etc have been better? F**K wow signings we've had them for 10 years and not worked. This boycott idea is rubbish too. I love my club through thick and thin and will be attending and shouting for my team against Hull We need to rally round. Ashley knows hes unpopular and will be looking to sell. Why risk losing our best players as well. Xisco is one of the best prospects in Spain - if he doesnt get a rapturous reception then he'll leave as will Gutierrez and that will be the fans fault - they came for the support and will leave for them too. Rant over
