Guest bluegeordie
Yay, yet another fucking pathetic move by NUFC, which some arseholes will try to spin into some kind of positive. another example of how retarded everyone in the management/ownership structure is. We deserve our lauhing stock tag. Sad but true imo
Decky
Dont think the fans deserve the laughing stock tag, i think that just falls to the employers making the bizarre appointments.
Kitman
So what if we're being managed by Steptoe & Son and we're going to get relegated? We've got a f***ing great set up, that's all that matters

Thespence
BRYAN ROBSON and Gerry Francis have turned down coaching roles at Newcastle United, the Sunday Sun understands. While mystery continues to surround the identity of the specialist coach interim manager Joe Kinnear WILL bring in to St James’s Park. Kinnear has revealed a former England Under-19 manager and close friend, who has been out of the game recently but working in the media, will train the Magpies squad on Tuesday and Thursday from this week. Kinnear’s cryptic clues suggest ex-Middlesbrough boss Robson, right, is not the man he has in mind. But a source close to the Chester-le-Street-born ex-England star has told the Sunday Sun he was sounded out about some level of involvement, but opted against it. While Francis also appears to have turned the Tynesiders down in favour of a season-long role at Stoke alongside Tony Pulis. Kinnear, however, is confident the coach he does have lined up can make a difference to United’s fortunes, he fears revealing his identity ahead of his first day in the job could undermine his position, much as he feels his was. “I’ve got plans to bring in other people around me but I daren’t even mention it because I know he’d probably be in serious trouble before he got here,” said Kinnear, adding that he means to retain all of the coaching staff currently at his disposal. “He’ll be involved in coaching and we’ll just get on with it. No one’s leaving, no one at all. I’ve assured them all that there’s no problem with the jobs for everyone Kevin Keegan employed. That’s not a problem, I just need to bring in someone else. “I’ve negotiated to bring in some- one else but it will be specialised stuff, Tuesday and Thursday only, two hours after we finish training to work on specific things I want to work on, individual stuff. “Him coming in will be a different voice, he’s got a vast amount of experience. It shouldn’t get an adverse reaction but the way things are going at the moment, who would you trust?” http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle-utd/newcastle-utd-news/2008/10/05/robbo-turns-down-toon-79310-21966622/

LooneyToonArmy
Gerry Francis mulling offer to join NUFC staff Oct 7 2008 by Alan Oliver, Evening Chronicle GERRY FRANCIS is “thinking over” an offer to join Joe Kinnear on the coaching staff with Newcastle United. The United interim boss has offered the former England skipper and Spurs manager the chance to do some specialist coaching for a couple of days a week. And Kinnear told me today: “Gerry is thinking over our offer. I have not been back to London since I came to Newcastle a week past Friday and I have only been able to speak to him on the telephone. “But I will be going to London at the weekend and I hope to get something sorted out by then.” Meanwhile, Kinnear revealed that club owner Mike Ashley rang him immediately after Sunday’s creditable draw at Everton. Says Kinnear: “Mike was on the phone not long after the final whistle went, saying he had been watching the game with his kids at home. “And he said he nearly jumped out of the window when Leighton Baines appeared from nowhere to kick that shot from Charles N’Zogbia off the goal-line because he thought it was going to be the winning goal. “But he seemed happy enough at our performance and the eventual result.” Kinnear supervised both the training sessions yesterday and today and he will be at tonight’s reserve game when United go to Robin Park to take on Wigan’s second string. There was more good news for Kinnear today when striker Andy Carroll trained for the first time after picking up a bad foot injury in a freak accident in the summer. toontownman
No Francis? But we have got Robbie Earle coaching! http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/newcastle/article4943623.ece Not exactly convinced of his coaching abilities but who knows. Its not like we dont need a few extra coaches but I hope this is in addition to Francis coming in rather than instead.
