All summer, articles linking us to players with no concrete evidence were dismissed at the drop of a hat.

Now an article comes out about Keegan suing the club with no concrete evidence, and it's taken as gospel.

Perhaps you could post an example of someone "taking it as gospel".

Do you really need me to point out an example?

Yep, I'm challenging you to prove your point, which should be easy to do if it's true.

He loves the club?

Yeah, right.

The article is an article it doesn't prove anything or disprove anything. Most people will probably be aware that Keegan has hired a lawyer and so has the club to thrash out any compensation due. It's hardly ground-breaking news in any case.

Kevin Keegan set to launch £9m claim against Newcastle

14.10.08

Kevin Keegan is suing Newcastle United for £9million in damages after claiming unfair dismissal following his departure as manager last month.

The 57-year-old's second stint in charge on Tyneside ended in acrimonious circumstances after a bust-up with owner Mike Ashley.

Standard Sport understands Keegan has begun legal proceedings against the club demanding full payment of his three-and-a-half-year contract.

It is believed Keegan claims he signed a deal to return to Newcastle on the condition that he was given total control of all first-team affairs.

But the former England boss believes Dennis Wise's role as director of football infringed upon the terms of that agreement and made his position untenable.

The transfer of striker Xisco from Deportivo on deadline day is thought to have particularly riled Keegan, who had minimal knowledge a deal would be struck.

It is unclear whether Newcastle will launch a counter claim for breach of contract, as the club declined to comment.

This latest legal wrangle marks the further deterioration of Ashley's relationship with the man who took the club from bottom of the old Second Division to Premier League runners-up and Champions League participants in his first spell in charge between 1992-97.

The retail entrepreneur has become a hate figure in the north east following Keegan's departure, although the club issued a statement denying Keegan had been sacked.

Ashley subsequently held talks with Keegan in a bid to resolve the dispute but no solution was reached and Joe Kinnear has since been appointed interim manager while the club look for new owners.

Dubai-based investors baulked at Ashley's initial asking price, which was rumoured to be more than three times the £134m he paid for the club in 2007. He has since dropped it to around £300m.

Chief executive of the League Managers Association Richard Bevan has hinted Keegan would be interested in a return.

But Bevan said: "The structure has to be right."

How would this (if true) affect any hopes he/the prospective new owners have of him returning as manager?

Why does anyone take any notice of a grotty little local rag from the South?

Really don't know what kind of point he's trying to make.

It's not rocket science. The article is not, in fact, "taken as gospel".

To take it as gospel would be as dumb and irrational as assuming that it can't possibly be true.

Fairpoint Ozzie.

If KK wants his contract paid up so be it, I guess the club will see him in court.

What a club when both Sir Bobby & Keegan fall out with the powers that be & have to seek cash from the club via courts, while chaps like Souey & Sam get paid up in full no questions asked. Of course the reasons of departing were different but KK & SBR are iconic Newcastle United people.

Go to court, legally there will be a winner. Reality no fucker wins least of all the name of Newcastle United.

He was only here because his soccer circus is going down the pan so it's no surprise to see him trying to screw the club out of money, the usual mugs will still defend him though.

What a shame big stupid Mike didn't consult you first before offering him a handsome contract.

Souey & Allardyce got paid up in full because they were sacked outright.

Not sure why Robson had to go to court because that was a similar thing by the sounds of it...although given he had less than a year to run I can't see it as being much.

Keegan on the otherhand walked.

Was it not because Mike wanted to be King of The Bigg Market & offered Kev a kings ransom so he could be seen as bringing the hero home. Oh & Harry who was in the bag at one point turned them down hours after they had sacked Sam.

As for the Soccer Circus going down the pan it has been going down the swany for over a year now & is still going in these credit crunch times. After the week HBOS & RBS have had Soccer Circus is one of Scotland better businesses .
