oldtype
Finnan isn't coming off some really bad injuries and hasn't gone back to his home country because he couldn't cut it in Europe anymore though.
Fatwax
Having players on loan undergo a trial before you seal the deal really isn't a normal thing. Also brining in a loan signing to bolster an injury ravaged squad with a player suffering from long term injuries tends to not work out. Does it, Gonzalez? It means the club aren't bothered. Cruzeiro don't have a league game until 23rd May 2009, and it is unclear if Sorin took his option for the 2009 season anyhow. How would you feel if we loaned him? Had a quick browse on the ever reliable wiki and it says he hasn't played at all for Cruzeiro and hardly played at all for Hamburg.
Fatwax
Same age as Finnan and people were generally keen on getting him Difference for me is that Finnan has extensive experience of playing in this league. We don't have time for players to bed into a new language/league/pace.
oldtype
Hasn't played consistent football since he left Villareal. He seems genuinely unfit enough right now to turn into another 2006-2007 Bernard. Worrying.

James
Despite impressing at Argentina, he has never quite managed to get a run of games in Europe, running off to Cruzeiro until the next European club comes knocking. The biggest irony would be the identity of the person who replaced him at Villareal: Jose Enrique Sanchez Diaz

He seems genuinely unfit enough right now to turn into another 2006-2007 Bernard. Worrying. Which is the problem, either we take him on and face the same situation, where everyone will bitch he never plays/waste of money. Or, we dont sign him and people will bitch even though he isnt in decent enough shape.

I wouldn't be averse to taking him on as long as Kinnear knows that it's emergency cover only and has no intention of having him boot Enrique out of the first team. SteveMc
Suppose that's why he wants to looka t him - to try and judge what kind of shape he's in. Seems a sensible enough decision to me
James
Furthermore, if Riise was genuinely Kinnear's first choice, I'd say Sorin would be under the category of well known player with similar attributes to Riise as Kinnear went down the list of available left backs. Ikon
Im pretty sure that if Enrique had signed for a team like Man Utd or Arsenal and played under Ferguson/Wenger he would be a different player. Same is if we had signed Ronaldo from sporting he would NEVER become tha same player he is now, not even close.. Im not comparing Enriques potential with Ronaldo (just wanted to mention that before anyone starts....)

Aye, he's tacked a 5m signing on fee to Joe's new contract. It's "lucrative" you know.
