I'd rather we took our chances on a young player like we did with Guthrie.
Guest NorwegianMag
Hope he's a sideback. A what? Ehm that sentence was a bit norwenglish! But I would say it was correct though Either a left back or right back? a side back? you know.
Begbie
Come to think of it Ferguson is quite similar to Guthrie in style and really not what we need at all. We need an athletic ball winner to do the dirty work. Our 'scouts' should be scouring the french league for this sort of player imo. We should try a cheacky bid to get Veloso from Sporing. Rumours are that A.Ferguson is trying to sign him, and is most likely to cost 10-20M. What happend to that Moutinho guy we were interessted in last transfer window? One thing I wonder about, didnt Wise try to offload many first team players the last day in the transfer window? Rumours about Owen and Co beeing offered to various clubs. And didnt we try to offload Barton in the last transfer window too, but he said he wanted to repay us for showing faith in him. We've got no chance of getting someone in like Veloso. You never know, stranger things have happend. But your right, we wont get him unless we try.
TRon
Got a couple of mates who are massive Rangers fans and they worship the ground Ferguson walks on. However they also say he's not been the same since his most recent bad injury and that his legs are gone. In other words perfect for our midfield. I said earlier on in this thread that i didn't see what he offered that geremi doesn't. Both has-beens who will get over-run in most matches in the premier. I'm going to wait to see if it actually happens before saying too much though.
steve_69
I personally think Geremi offers a lot more than Butt in the middle of the park. The fact that he can pass the ball to teammates is a big plus for a start

Mick
£8m bid tabled for shay from city according to the mail. I heard Mark Hughes on 5 Live within the last hour say that he hadn't bid for Given.
merlin
All the signings mentioned really get the hairs standing up on the back of your neck - NOT..!! Ferguson, together with Ameobi getting a 3 Yr deal, has bracketed the club firmly with the dross of the Prem. When Stan Seymour was on the board in the 80s, he once said before a game with Liverpool at SJP that ; "Newcastle really can't be expected to beat a club like Liverpool'... He would be proud of his inheritance today......!!
Baggio
Man City look set to maintain their interest in West Ham's Craig Bellamy and Scott Parker but have not bid for Newcastle's Shay Given. Eastlands chief Mark Hughes is trying to add to his squad in order to move up the Premier League table after a poor start to the season, and he wants Parker and Bellamy on board. But so far the Hammers have rebuffed his efforts to land the pair so Hughes is considering making an increased double offer. He told City's website: "It's well-documented that we made an inquiry over him [Parker], and over Craig Bellamy as well, but that was rejected. We have not gone back to the table on that one, but we may well do." On unsettled Magpies keeper Given, Hughes added: "There has been no offer for Shay Given. As discussed in the past, until something actually happens and we don't put bids in, it is not fair to discuss players that we have not bid for." Guest teepee
I personally think Geremi offers a lot more than Butt in the middle of the park. The fact that he can pass the ball to teammates is a big plus for a start agreed, i'd have him over butt anytime. less stupid free kicks, less stray passes and then he is probably our best dead ball "specialist" imo

What? So he can run around as a forward somehow managing to be in the wrong place all the time, never take any shots on goal, play with his back to the opposition goal for 90 minutes and fail to link up along side anyone else unfortunate to be playing along side him? Or are you talking about his midfield ability where he somehow manages to be in the wrong place all the time, dives into unnecessary tackles, fails to link up with anyone else in the midfield, or defence, or attack and manages to gift at least one edge-of-the-box free kick to anyone we're playing. We'd be better off playing with 10 men than put Alan Smith in the team.

If he can regain fitness i belive he could be an okey sub/cover for midfield/striker. however, alot of other players should get the nod ahead, and we should deffo offload him. however not until the summer.
