Superior Acuña
It really is essential we bring someone else in if we lose him. Kuyt part of the deal (not that he's a good striker). Roeder's probably working on it.
Guest neesy111
is the pres conferecne Cancelled / Post- poned or just a load of bololocks about it and it is still going ahead? Guest Stephen927
Andy Carroll will still be a Newcastle United player on Tuesday. Friday however, the deal with Spurs will be finalised.

Memphis
At this stage, it's about ambition. Do we have the ambition to turn down a sizable wedge for a HOMEGROWN player who crucially DOES NOT WANT TO GO? Or are we essentially a selling club? SUPERTOON
Btw is it to unrealistic to think he will come out of this with a hugely improved new contract?
JH
At this stage, it's about ambition. Do we have the ambition to turn down a sizable wedge for a HOMEGROWN player who crucially DOES NOT WANT TO GO? Or are we essentially a selling club? That's a bit harsh. Every player has a price, if we let Carroll go for upwards of £35m, we're not exactly a 'selling club'

Colocho
Why would cancelling a press conference mean we've sold Carroll? We cancel press conferences when we're about or have just done something stupid. Such as?
ponsaelius
I really hope he just tells them to fuck off. Liverpool man? They're what, 2 points ahead of us and played a game more? Fucking pointless move, they're hardly the most stable club at the moment.
David Icke - Son of God
At this stage, it's about ambition. Do we have the ambition to turn down a sizable wedge for a HOMEGROWN player who crucially DOES NOT WANT TO GO? Or are we essentially a selling club? £35 million is a huge sum. If spent wisely (if spent at all!) it could do what the Berba transfer did for Spurs.
taxfree
Agent involved in Liverpool transfers been told #NUFC want £35m for Carroll. Soon as Torres signs #CFC they will make a new offer. nononono

Every player has a price, if we let Carroll go for upwards of £35m, we're not exactly a 'selling club' If the homegrown 21-year-old lad wants to stay, and is a huge, huge part of our team now and presumably in the future, to sell him at any price means we're a selling club. Unfortunate but true.

Teasy
Makes sense to cancel the press conference if we know that more bids for Carroll are going to come in. As all the questions in the conference will end up being about Carroll and the manager can't talk about it confidently until we know the outcome. Doesn't mean he's gone or a fee has been agreed at all IMO.
