U18 winger Samuel Adjei had an operation. Out for 4 months.

lol bye

Doubt it, they went out of their way to sign him 16 months ago, so he'll be here until he's 21 at least. Just means he'll have to work hard during the Pre-Season to get fit again, though thankfully he won't miss too much - if any - football.

Did they say what the operation was for?

He will be here next season.

Samuel Adjei said it was his groin. He also thinks he will have more pace after the operation.

How could you get faster after an operation. ???

He also had a strain injury before his operation and...(think it's called stiffness in English..) = pain on movement = faster after operation.

Might be like that kid in Roy of the Rovers who could kick the ball like a corkscrew after his op. That would be nifty.

nufcblog.com saying Stephen Folan, Haris Vuckic, Samuel Adjei, Brad Inman and Phil Airey have all been promoted to senior squad. Any truth in this? I'd imagine Inman and Vuckic were certain, but the rest?

Folan is a slight surprise, he's impressed since his switch to the back, but I'd say Jeff Henderson (his CB partner) was the better of the pair.

What about Adjei? How's he coming on? Heard he struggled to begin with, but has he developed anything this season? We don't hear anything about him here in Sweden. Same goes for Ole Söderberg, but he's been injured right?

Aye Soderberg has been injured most of the season (think with a knee injury) so he's hardly featured. He'll have to work hard next season to re-establish himself in the reserves as it looks like Alnwick is going to jump straight in at reserve level.

Adjei has had an ok 2nd half to season, he seemed to come into his own during the Youth Cup, but he's really inconsistent and frustratingly lazy at times. Hardly tracks back. Even worse he doesn't seem to realise he has pace, seemed to pull up when a defender comes at him so he can try and use skill to get past them rather then just blitzing by them.

He's scored some nice goals, but on the flip side of that he's missed sitters.

A World Cup call up could do him the world of good, give him a taste of big match atmosphere and experience - even if he hardly plays.

Then again that didn't really work for Walcott.

ronaldo went to the 1994 world cup as a 17/18 year old, not sure if it had any effect, but it didnt seem to hurt.

Some would argue it burned him out, considering he basically retired when he returned home to Brazil at 30. Plus that strange incident in France in 98.

 Sitting on the bench for one tournament burned him out? Can we also put Kaka's injury problems down to him being placed in the 2002 World Cup as well?

Being thrown into the spot light straight away at a young age will cause burnout if you're not prepared for it.

The promotion of Airey and Adjei are the proofs that we aren't going to spend money this summer and we have to rely on them for covers.

No disrespect to the lads, glad to see them given chances - but that would be unlikely to happen should we have a 10m+ transfer budget.

Could be for the new rules like n all plus at the moment our squad barely reaches 25.

We'll never know how good these players are without them actually getting some game time, though. If they're crap, then fine, we sell or release them, but at least there's a fucking basis for it.

i don't really think he'll be that much of a loss to be honest.

Why's that then?

just think that with Joe Joyce there and Willie Donnachie now on board there's no need for him.

Aye, pretty much.

As for Wharton being any good, its a tough call to make. During game days he just sort of stood there and shouted, parents gave the impression he was never happy, so I can buy the 'new career' thing.
