We really should have beat Italy.  Two definite penalties turned down for handball and Healy with the miss of the season.

Ah well, beat the Faroes on Tuesday and we'll have 7 points from our first 9.  I'd have bit anyones hand off for that before it started.

Couldnt care less about our game tonight. Might rub it into Kaizero if we win like but thats about it. More concerned with how Carroll gets on. If it was a competitive match it would be a different story of course.

The FAI in talks with England over possible friendly

The FAI appear keen to attract England to the Aviva Stadium

The Football Association of Ireland is in talks about hosting a possible friendly with England at the Republic's home ground - Dublin's Aviva Stadium.

Reports on Friday morning suggested a game could take place next June although the claim was later dismissed by the English FA.

However, the FAI said on Friday evening that it was "in discussions with the English FA about a possible friendly".

The statement added that the June date reported in the media was "incorrect".

"The discussions are ongoing and it is expected that an announcement will be made within the next month," concluded the FAI statement.

Coupled with the English FA's denials over the June date, it appears that if a friendly were to take place it would probably be in 2012.

606: DEBATE

I was there the last time they played and it wasn't pretty

The two countries have not met since the ill-fated 1995 encounter at Lansdowne Road which had to be abandoned because of crowd trouble with the Republic winning 1-0.

England could have a spare friendly date to fill on 8 June next year as the proposed game with Thailand looks likely to be scrapped, although the Republic have an away Euro 2012 qualifier in Macedonia on 4 June.

A friendly with England could net the cash-strapped FAI over £4m.

The FAI has recently had to make financial cuts and a number of staff are to be made redundant including the association's current technical director Packie Bonner.

The slow take-up for 10-year tickets at the new Aviva Stadium is believed to have been a major contributory factor to the FAI's current financial difficulties.
