How much will we make in player sales if the following leave?

Enrique - £4 million (good player and we won't neccesarily need to sell him unless he asks to leave)

Coloccini - £6.5 million (will still have a big reputation on the continent but he'll want to leave and we need to sell so)

Bassong - £6 million (No need to sell him, so why should we accept a small fee?)

Beye - Going nowhere so nowt

Gutierrez - £6 million (Again big rep and still a regular argie international, a player who was getting £10 million offers last year)

Barton - £2 million (world class idiot but people will keep falling for his bullshit)

Martins - £7 million (big reputation, current international we'd have gotten £10 million easily without relegation)

Smith - £2 million (shit as it gets but some managers still have a blind spot)

Ah yes the income from the Milner sale. Are you sure that money actually still exists?

Do you recon someone stole is like?  Of course it still exists.

But it isn't really to spend.

We spent just as much as we brought in this season, which is the way things had to operate.

I hope no-one is expecting the money we bring in from player sales next season will be going back out again, it simply wont be the case.

We didn't spend as much as we brought in last season and why shouldn't the money from players sold in the following close season be available for transfers?  If I was Shearer I'd be demanding it.  They're looking to save the money lost from not being in the Premiership by cutting the wage bill, so they shouldn't need to make a profit on transfers.

We're already in debt, getting relegated puts us in more debt.

If we make £30m from transfers, we'll get £10m-£15m to spend, which is understandable.

Even if we save £30m a year on wages, we're still £25m a year down from TV revenue etc. Parachute payment of £11m means that's probably £14m down. That has to come from somewhere.

Also add to the fact that our operating income will be significantly less (merchandising/tickets/match day income/sponsorships).

Going down means we make less money but only if we then spend the same money would we be in more debt.  We made £41 million from prize money and media last season according to the accounts by the way.  Parachute payments were £11.5 million for ther last two seasons, I had heard that was going up again for the start of next season but that's uncomfirmed.  Even if they don't chop £35 million off the wage bill and we'll have balanced the books.

And if you work it out, we pretty much spent as much as we brought in.

Coloccini - £10m

Guthrie - £2.5m

Bassong - £500k

Jonas - £5.2m

Xisco - £5.7m

Kevin Nolan - £4m

= £24.9m

Milner - £12m (of which we got £9m)

Faye - £2.25m

Rozehnal - £2.9m

Emre - £5m

N'Zogbia - £6m

Given - £8m (but we haven't received yet)

= £25.15m (not including Given since we haven't got the money)

You can't not include the money for Given based on how much we may more may not have gotten up front   I very much doubt we've paid the money for Gutierrez yet and we may have only paid part of the transfers for any of the other players we've signed.  The fact is the money is guarenteed, wether its in or out.  So that's £33 milliion brought in and £24.9 million spent.

And considering we're operating at a loss of around £10-£15m a year.....

And then you have signing on fees to consider for the players we brought in, which is probably in the region of about £6m...

The Given money should be handy anyway, we'll need it.

TV revenue is worth around £40m to those clubs in the Premiership, in the Championship it's about £2.5m.

Prizemoney is significantly less as well.

No idea where you're going?

Everything needs to go down. To help cover anything that will be higher than it should be (which will be the wage bill, because even £35-£40m is too much), transfer fees will be used.

It's common sense.

I think we wont get what we would expect for the players due to financial climate but also because buying clubs will know we are desperate to reduce the wage bill.

Enrique - £3m, has got better, some pace, strong, hope he stays

Coloccini - £4m, shown to be slow, poor in the air and in need of a hair band

Bassong - £3m, uncapped, raw, tendency to be sent off, another child of Arsene maybe

Beye - £1m, getting on a bit, been injured a bit, hopefully stays as a central defender so he has less running to do

Jonas - £3m, headless chicken, unused spiderman mask( though good excuse as heedless ;)), final ball lacking,

Barton - £1m, liability, injury prone, prone to injuring others, Sam or stays maybe if Al isnt here,

Martins - £5m, loose cannon, poor record past season,

Smith - £1.5m probably championship player at the most now, maybe would stay on his wages and do a little better

You are closer to the mark than most others, KK, but I disagee about Martins(lucky to get 4m),Coloccini(lucky to get 3m)and Barton, because I actually think that some managers will pay about 2.5m for him - not that I agree with them..!

Total, therefore, would be 21m, but like you, I hope Enrique stays.

People are going to be very disappointed if they think all the money from sales is going to go back into a transfer kitty. I reckon we'll make about £20m from the current squad and about half of that will go straight into reducing the losses.

I'd say this isn't far off. Maybe + a couple of million in clauses etc.

Enrique will go for more than £3m I reckon, there's a few Spanish clubs who'd love to have him probably.

The same could be said about Coloccini, apparently he is still well thought off in Spain.  I wouldn't be surprised if you got £10/11m for the pair, but the rest?  What KeithKettleborough said.

2 factors to take into account here. 1. the £ is now weaker for offers from foreign clubs. 2. Inflation is huge, Zoggy £6 million and Milner £12, we could see higher fees than we anticipate tbh.

What's this issue with prize money? It's hardly different, you don't get much money from the Prem unless you're in the top 10.

Selling Enrique for £3-4M? Fuck it. He's one of our better players, easily imo. Was very good for us in the end.. IF he leaves i think he will go on and have a really good season if he picks the right club. Going to be a top player i think (if he picks the right club)

But i really do hope that he stays..

Guest optimistic nit

think some of these prices are scandalously low tbh, given how the transfer market has been lately.

Barton- Released

Owen- Relseased

Colo: 4-8 million. he's still got a good reputation despite a poor first season for us, although we will be looking to get rid which could push down his value.

Martins: 6-8. still fairly young, and has lots of attributes and is rated highly still imo.

those will all definately go.

Jonas: 6-8 million. should easily get this imo. very good player and can see a number of clubs wanting him.

Smith: 500K- 1.5mill. not sure whether we'll be able to shift him, but wont go for much.

will most likely go.

Beye 500K. hopefully would be going, but if he does cant see him going for much at all given his age.

Bassong: 8-12mill. think we can get a fair amount for him. should bloody do. curtis davis went for 10mill, he was playing in the same league, for a worse club, hadn't shone as much and i dont think had as much PL experience. could even fetch more than 12mill.

Enrique: 4-6 mill. if we do sell we wont get as much for him as we should but will still probably fetch around 5 mill.

hopefully wont go.

additionally if we lose duff he'll probably go for 1-2 mill and Krul (1.5-2m plus clauses).

cant see those players going for much less tbh. i may be being optimistic but looking at similarr players and they are all fetching those price tags or higher. the only thing that could push them down is the recession, but the PL is richer than it has been in ages. even though a lot of our players have floors (jonas and martins in particular) the prices mentioned by most are what we'll most likely be paying for good championship players, and probably lower than those prices.

Enrique £5m

Coloccini £7m

Bassong £14m - Good first season overall, lots of promise, has everything in his locker to become a top class defender.

Beye £4m - Solid and experienced no-nonsense defender, although 31 he's kept himself well so has a good few years left in him.

Jonas £9m - Argentinian international.

Barton £3m - Someone willing to take the gamble on what is still a decent central midfielder. Possibly a newly promoted side.

Martins £10m - Worth a fair chunk of money given his attributes, age, decent goalscoring record, ability to score out of nothing.

Smith £3m

Nolan £3m

Butt £0.5m - Will be viewed as an experienced battler who'll benefit one of the newly promoted or relegation threatened sides. Assuming none of them have actually seen him play for us.

Duff £3m

Geremi £1m - Someone will pay a mill for him given his experience and previous clubs, still only 30 too.

Don't be silly, he has 1 year left on his contract and is plus 30, you'll be lucky to get £500k

Half all of those and you'll be nearer the mark.

Seems you're not the only club who has to sell to buy this summer eh MJ?

Having bought Defoe, Keane, Palacios et al, I don't think anyone was surprised that there would have to be some sales before more purchases.  At least in 'Arry we have a proven wheeler dealer.  If he can get Bentley and cash to Villa with Barry going in the opposite direction, which is being widely mentioned, I'd be delighted but I don't think there's a cat in hell's chance it will actually happen.

If I were a manager of another club, I wouldn't touch any of our players with a barge pole. Bad vibes can spread through a club. None of them are particularly good players either.

Barton £3m

Geremi £1m

Smith £3m

Jonas £5m

Colocinni £5m

Nolan £3m

Martins £8m

Total £28m

Owen, Cacapa, Viduka, Lovenkrands frees

Should be about £32-£36m off the wage bill so pretty much half.

Have a feeling Shearer will fight to keep the rest and the obvious Shola no go. Hopefully get likes of Duff to lower wages and up Bassongs to try keep him for at least 1 season.
