Yup, one of the things I actually liked with the Ashley regime was buying younsters. Ignoring the first team was obviously a big problem though. :colo:
thomas
I genuinely fear for Ashleys safety if he rejects it, I really do.

thewellander
I'm so optimistic that he's going to be our new owner that I'm just going to skip ahead to being upset with how he's running the club and wanting him out. Moat OUT!!!!
chicago_shearer
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/aug/05/joe-kinnear-newcastle-united-mike-ashley-michael-owen Moat fronts the American bid. Has this been mentioned? Keith Harris, Seymour Pierce's executive chairman, has been involved in long negotiations with a group fronted by Moat, a box-holder at St James' Park. Moat, who is believed to have backing from the United States, is now regarded as Harris's preferred bidder. If the sale goes through, it could be good news for Alan Shearer, who took over as temporary manager for the last eight games of last season and is keen to lead the club back to the Premier League. Moat was chairman of Shearer's testimonial committee.

Guest gggg
So the Times, Guardian, Sun all go with the moat story. And the Daily Mail.. EXCLUSIVE: Newcastle plummet to new depths as O'Leary turns down manager's job with no quotes or any meat at all in the article, amazing what headlines they come up with when beaten to a story. EthiGeordie
The daily mail hates us so they don't have stomach for any postive things for us. So does Louis Taylor she usually right crap about us when it is good news someone else report this news on the Guardian.

TRon
Are we saying thanks Thomo for keeping us informed since Saturday??? I think the lad has been vindicated to be honest. Ok the Dubai Consortium was a red herring but the news of the takeover bid was spot on....it's not his fault if Ashley now starts wavering.
Cronky
In the Radio 5 interview, Harris did slip in that he thought it important that there was some local involvement in the ownership of the club. My heart sank because I thought he had Shepherd in mind. Now it looks like he may have meant this bloke. There's been rumour of an American bid fronted by someone local for a while now, so it seems the story has substance. Whether they are the front runners is something else. The signs are that there's some competition.
