Speaking of Richard Money, and pretty summing up the silence that comes from the club,  our Academy director apparently suffered a heart attack during the summer.

He was at the game with Villa last Saturday but was sitting on a golf buggy with his feet up rather than in the dugout with Wharton and the others.

Heard today that they Moneyman is already at the academy training centre for discussionjs. His name is Richards, I think.

No-one is in Newcastle though

So, since you highlighted the 's' at the end there it means that the fella behind the bid goes by the name of Richard? Which in that case would narrow it down to these gentlemen on the Rich List.

Americans jet in for talks on Toon takeover

Aug 28 2009 by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle

THE American-based group interested in taking over Newcastle United have arrived in London for face-to-face talks with investment bank Seymour Pierce.

The group, who are understood to have strong connections with professional sports organisations in the US, are currently working with Seymour Pierce duo Keith Harris and Tom Sheldon after making their interest know in the last fortnight.

Toon owner Mike Ashley imposed a one-week deadline on wannabe owner Barry Moat with the Tyneside-based businessman attempting to agree terms with Barclays Bank to agree the club’s working overdraft facility of £39m.

However, it’s believed that hopes are fading fast for United’s biggest corporate customer even though Ashley has been trying to push the deal over the finish line.

Geoff Sheard

The Chronicle understands that the Americans – who have North West sports retailer Geoff Sheard spearheading their bid – are attempting to close in on a deal with Ashley.

United managing director Derek Llambias confirmed talks were taking place earlier in the week, although he did stress that the bid team was yet to provide “proof of funds”.

With Sheard only representing the US group, the arrival of the main financial backers of the bid in the UK is a significant move.

A source close to the deal in the capital told the Chronicle today: “The Americans are pushing like hell to get a deal through.

“They arrived in London late yesterday and will speak to Seymour Pierce once again.

“It’s at a critical stage and they don’t want to say too much.

“Obviously with non-disclosure agreements signed it’s difficult for them. And it is a painfully slow process.”

As revealed in the Chronicle on Tuesday, the Americans would install Alan Shearer as manager despite the great start made by United under interim boss Chris Hughton.

They also intend to appoint New York-based strategic holding company The Omnicom Group to rebrand the Magpies on a global scale and increase sponsorship and advertising opportunities.

And they will assign worldwide PR giants Fleishman Hillard to attempt to repair relations between fans and those calling the shots at the club.

Toon supporters though have grown weary of takeover talk and today fanzine editor Steve Wraith said: “It all sounds like a grand plan.

“But we have heard a lot of it before.

“Hopefully the Americans can put their money where their mouth is and we can see some real developments in the next few days.”

Don't believe it personally. Too many false dawns and so-called 'ITKs' that know absolutely nothing. Hope to be proven spectacularly wrong.
