It was pretty boring tbh. Shola was absolute shite against what should have been vastly inferior players. Lua Lua looked decent. Krul made a hilarious mistake in the 2nd half, went to kick the ball and missed the damn thing, Rover's still didnt score, hit the post though, was a shocker from Krul, but funny

Great win this could really help momentum now for a good start to the campaign.

Ah shit breaking news banner NSN we've been docked 250 points in the championship and fined £35 million for reusing Nile Ranger

Still, worth it just to see that celebration.

Can't expect much first match back, I suppose. Decent enough craic?

Yeah it was decent enough craic, people were still chanting away even though it was miserable as fuck. There was plenty of humour around when we made mistakes and got taunted about being relegated. Was a decent days craic, wish I was still in Dublin having a night out though as im sure many Geordies are out and about.

From the Sun:

Teenager Nile Ranger scored his first senior goal in spectacular style seconds from the end. He fired home from 25 yards after McNeil had rushed off his line to block Ameobi.

Said at the start of this thread its a nothing game, most of those players won't be here when the season starts, main thing was the youngins got a game and most did okay, we won so its good for confidence and will keep the press off our backs, win its so what, lose and get slaughtered for it in the papers.

They haven't seen it then. As usual.

Scrap that. We were playing the reserve side, of Shamrock Rovers, in a friendly, with a temporary coach in charge and a depleted squad

But we won and we scored three goals!

Yeah but we didn't invent goals!!111 :aww:

Neither did the Telegraph:

Late goals from Shola Ameobi and England Under-19 international Nile Ranger, both from close range, gave the scoreline a flattering look, with Newcastle’s first-half performance having suggested that their next manager will have his work cut out.

That line in the Telegraph is such a sack of shit.

Credit where credit's due: Shola looked pretty sharp on his goal, tbh.

Aye fair play he looked sharp and up for it.

Do not hotlink from nufc.co.uk thankyou

All down to Shearer's eating an apple on a bike training method TBH.

Considering Shola is like 6' - those socks must be HUGE!

Just noticed, no Guttierez in the squad at all for this game. Should we read something into this?

I wouldn't go as far as saying the good times are back after yesterday but definitely feeling alot more confident about the new season now.
