I haven't really been following the team news, although I know Bassong is suspended, so bare with me if I've named some injured player or something.

I'd play the following team, although Hughton won't:

Krul

Beye S.Taylor Kadar Enrique

Barton Guthrie

Lua-Lua Vuckic Duff

Carroll

Seven established players most likely to give a s*** coupled with hungry youngsters who can inject that extra bit of willingness into the team, without being completely void of talent themselves.

We might aswell forfeit the 3 points with that team, Lua Lua, Vuckic & Kadar ahead of Jonas, Coloccini & Nolan? We should play our strongest team regardless unless transfers stop us from doing so. Id rather have 3 experienced players ahead of 3 players of which only one has played in the first team, albeit as a sub.

Krul in goal is asking for trouble, as is Kadar in defence, and Lua Lua instead of Jonas. That team will get agressively and repeatadly raped

How is Lua Lua instead of Jonas a problem? Kazenga has looked interested so far this season whereas Jonas clearly hasn't.

Krul in goal wouldn't really be a problem either, Harper is hardly as good as he used to be (or at least not in top form).

Krul looks edgy to me, Harper on the other hand looks fine and certainly imrpoved as time went on last season. Kazenga twice tried to beat men with tricks in the vacinity of his own 18 yard box against Leeds, I don't think he has the intelligence to be relied on at this moment in time.

As much as I hate Shola and have tried to keep open minded about Xisco baring in mind his lack of opportunities, Xisco hasn't looked like any sort of threat in any of the games he's played.

We just need someone up front with an eye for goal. If Xisco is given a go he might surprise us. Whereas with Shola if he gets anywhere near to the penalty area and hits a shot at more than 20mph Chris Hughton will probably pass out in shock.

moreso than Kazenga Lua Lua. Jonas is a useful player to have in the team for his defensive attributes, not that he'll shine

Jonas pass to Owen against Stoke shows he has a football brain. I can see him doing well for us this year.

Are you being serious? One pass?

It was the one example that sprung to mind.

From the reports of pre-season, Jonas hasn't looked like he gives a toss. Not sure that's conducive to being willing to track back.

Reports from who? He certainly looked like he gave a toss against Leeds, they just doubled up on him and nulified the threat. That tends to work when we have no attacking threat in the team

Would you say Martins had a football brain? I'm sure you could pick out one of his passes once too. ???

I like Jonas but you can't judge him off one pass, man. Last year he basically supplied next to nothing. If he doesn't care any more he's just a waste of a place.

I just remember reading it quite a few times from the people who went, not saying it's fact as I only went to Darlo. He wasn't bad there.

If there was nothing there he couldn't have made that pass, it was far from the obvious option. Like I say the lad has talent and I really think he will be important for us provided he stays.

Anyone who was at Dundee on Sunday knows how much Jonas wants to play for Newcastle.

If he cared any less, he'd fall asleep.

i know he's managed to get progressively worse and less interested in every game he's played!  Started like you'd expect an Argentinian international to perform when he looked quality against Darlo but has been a disgrace in the last 2 games.

not against Leeds he wasn't. He never stopped running in the first half, looked by far our biggest threat
