LA Galaxy will be happy.

Not.

You're joking aren't you?

Imagine how many replica shirts they'll shift now...

They have never been happy with these Milan loans, and he'll miss all the chunk of their season leading up to the WC. That would have been a great draw for them if he made the England squad.

Perhaps they should have said 'no' when he/Milan suggested it then.  ???

They hold his registration and pay his wages and should have put their foot down if they weren't happy.

There was a big fuss about it, but Becks was very firm and wanted to go. Donovan very publicly accused him of lack of compromise.

Beckham out for 3 months with ruptured achilles, out of the world cup.

Ooof.

There's the media taken up for tomorrow then.

The f***ing week more like.

This man will be on a plane tonight

Well, with Beckham out and Lennon doubtful, things are opening up for SWP, Walcott and AN Other.

I was quite impressed with Adam Johnson today. He looked like a player that won't freeze on the big occasion. Maybe it's too late for him, but if I were Capello I'd give him a chance.

And I won't pretend I'm sorry that Beckham's not going.

I remember the fuss he kicked up to get his own way now you mention it. Donovan got it spot on in that case.

If he wasn't totally committed to LA then he shouldn't have signed in the first place. Got very little sympathy for Beckham and he wanted the cash from playing in the MLS and the profile of playing in Europe. Classic case of having your cake and eating it.

Only just saw his goal on MOTD. Fantastic finish.

Jimmy Milner will be creaming himself, shoe in for the WC now.

He was always going imo. The main one to benefit is Walcott.

Bet Routledge's ears pricked up when he heard the news too...;)

Did he have a bet on Beckham getting injured like?

I think they assumed it would be beneficial. Much like the Donovan loan deal.

Plenty empty seats at Anfield tonight, although of course that is all down to the spirit of shankly protests according to the radio, nothing to do with 'Pool being dull to watch and some of their fans giving up on them.

Crowds are always a bit lower on midweek anyhoo as the paddies/southerners/ikea lads can't make it.
