I’ve defended him over the years as I believe in redemption and second chances etc. I can’t help but feel there’s very little rereading of Joey. Nothing is ever his fault, he talks about that Alonso tackle as if it’s because Shearer made him play through an injury. You can blame a bad performance on an injury, but surely if you were injured that would cause you to be more conservative with your tackles rather than completely reckless like that one on Alonso.
