Colocho
I'd have no objections to him being offered a 3 and a half year deal.
Guest
So it's just the find random kids for peanuts side of the Arsenal way of doing things that people think we should follow, I'd be disappointed with the club if Barton is still first choice at 32, and no way should he be getting £50k as a squad player. Two years on top of the one he has left already should be more than enough, then renegotiate year on year depending on his and the club's performance. Guest
Or am I reading it wrong and the two year offer including next season as well?
Guest Roger Kint
Or am I reading it wrong and the two year offer including next season as well? Its a 2 year extension to his current deal
Guest
Shouldn't even be an issue then, if he doesn't accept that given his injury record here where we paid him handsomely for about 8 months service in 3 years he can feck off.

Guest
Yep, he turns 32 that September.
Colocho
That's what I imagine most of us would offer him. He must be on at least £60k a week by now, what do you think they are offering?
Guest
I reckon it'll be £50k a week for the two year extension part of it.
madras
No excuse if Joey Barton isnt a Newcastle player next season there are if he wants a five year deal.

Benwell Lad
I reckon it'll be £50k a week for the two year extension part of it. You think the wage cap is that high? I raised this question in another thread yesterday regarding the "cap", i.e. does it officially exist ? Sure there has been an official statement regarding future self sufficiency, but no one seems to have seen anything official about the level of the alleged wage cap. It seems that while there is a salary budget (be mad not to have one) there is still flexibility to negociate when the right player comes along. Colocho
Simon Esland said in the meeting we had with him that there is a wage cap. Of course, he would not disclose how much it is.
Yorkie
Barton could play the role he is playing until he's 33 imo.

Wallace
Barton could play the role he is playing until he's 33 imo. Should go on longer really because it is not as if he is going to lose much pace.
Guest Antec
If Barton goes, Larsson in?
David28
Seeing Barton playing for another club would hurt me more than seeing Carroll doing it tbh. Hope he'll still sign that new contract - and I think he will.
Colocho
If Barton goes, Larsson in? Would be outrageous, but seems quite realistic at the moment ...
AyeDubbleYoo
For some reason I'm fairly confident Barton will sign a new deal. Don't see where all the doom and gloom is coming from. There is absolutely no way we'll let Tiote, Enrique and Barton go in one transfer window. I know Ashley is a cock, but that would be suicidal. TheGuv
Would people buy him though? Because of his 'bad' reputation, which is a load of bollocks like
AyeDubbleYoo
Just Enrique and Tiote then? I can't guarantee that won't happen, but I think they'll both stay.
Wullie
I know it's just The Mail........ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1359681/Joey-Barton-depart-Newcastle-Hamburg-Toon-offer-leave-deal.html the same mail that was trying to engineer a move to villa for him in jan. yeah i'm going to stick this in the ignore column The Mail have often been bang on the money during Ashley's reign, like it or not. First ones to call Tiote for a start.
