Dino
'No Sir, I'm afraid with a criminal record you cannot enter the United States.' 'Go straight ahead Sir. The baggage reclaim carousel for your flight is over there. Have a nice day.' LOL
Wallace
That interview was done a few weeks ago wasn't it - before the latest internationals? His interviews are always interesting but I am sure it will give the media more ammunition to have a ago.
Guest Stephen927
Barton will know he burnt his bridges with England the day he had a go at Gerrard and Lampard after the 2006 World Cup. He's been called up once since then.
alpal78
I like his honesty but there is a difference between that and being boastful. He is improving but is not even close to reaching the heights of Lampard and Gerrard. I'd rather he prove that he is the best English midfielder than declaring himself as the one
Guest chris
Barton is fantastick i think he is back to the player he was we would be lost with out him!
Guest Wearside
Is Joey Barton a full shilling? On one hand he is saying he wants to play for England and the next he is slating his possible teammates and slagging the England regime, not a cat in hells chance he will ever be called up again after this outburst. Silly boy.
Dave
He won't be called up anyway, might as well say what he really thinks instead of the usual boring shite.
AyeDubbleYoo
He's totally right, and what he said about Barry is spot on, if a bit unwise.
Guest toonlass
He won't be called up anyway, might as well say what he really thinks instead of the usual boring shite. This. It makes such a refreshing change to hear a footballer talking intelligently and honestly instead of just spewing cliched soundbites. I love Joey Barton. David Icke - Son of God
He's correct, on current form he is one of the best English midfielders in the country. He's carried us this season.
Colocho
More important than Tiote.

One of the best maybe, not sure if he carried us this season although he is an important player for us. The Barry part I've got no problems coz he's spot on but I don't like the way he sort of ran down Wishere as in "not bad" and then proceed to claim himself as the best in England. A bit of modesty and more hardwork might get him there but not yet

colinmk
He's an idiot if he thinks he is comparable to wilshere at the moment. I dont know much about england but barton on the right and carroll up front might just work!
Big Geordie
He's been very important for us this season and he's spot on about Barry. Lampard is on the way down and Gerrard has been injury prone. His honesty in interviews is quite refreshing - he's always come over as being quite intelligent and insightful. Pity there is a dark side to him though - perhaps if that hadn't been so evident over the years he would have played for England more.
AyeDubbleYoo
There isn't really a place for him in the England team if we go for this 4-3-3 though is there? We've been spending all season saying that he's not a central midfielder, and he's certainly not a flying winger.

Guest ObiChrisKenobi
The French Magazine interview would have been a month or two ago from memory. One of the question the French guy asked me on the way to the training ground was if I agreed with Joey Barton's opinion that he (Barton) was the best midfielder in the Country. SUPERTOON
Can't disagree with anything he says. Him and Wilshire have been England's best midfielders this season. Despite this he won't get near the England squad because of his past troubles, even though Gerrard, Rooney, Carroll, Terry, Cole and just about the lot of them have been in trouble. Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Even Wilshire over the last 12 months has been in the papers for the wrong reasons more than Barton this season.
