Sifu
Alan Pardew is set to lose Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton after overlooking him for the armband http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2013660/Lee-Cattermole-upset-John-OShea-new-Sunderland-captain.html One of the poorest articles I've read to date (shouldn't come as a surprise with this being the Daily Mail). AyeDubbleYoo
Barton said on twitter that he thought Colo was a brilliant lad, good choice for captain and he'd support him all the way.
wormy
'Journalism' like that needs to be cut the fuck out. It just makes me so fucking angry. 'Barton's disruptive, fuck it. Let's say he's unhappy at Colo getting the captaincy. What? He said he's happy with the decision? Piss off. There. Written. Print that.' Articles that are bold-faced fantasy, no matter how little effect they have, rile me to fuck. Cunts.

Pilko
Best decision that Bruce has made in ages, if that article is correct. Cattermole is far too young and far too hot-headed to be good captain material, removing him from the armband is absolutely the correct choice. If O'Shea is going to be handed the captaincy it'll do them much better than keeping that jumped up prick in there.

Shak
Do agree that Cattermole doesn't seem an ideal captain given how dirty he is. Plays with the kind of intensity you want from your captain for sure, but you need to be in control for the most part too and he doesn't seem like he has that yet. Buying a new player and just anointing him captain is a very risky move IMO though, especially if it pisses the existing captain off. Suppose it'll show whether O'Shea is good captain material or not pretty quickly... you'd have thought waiting a wee while might be a good idea though. Not like they need to rush him into it. They've got 4 years.

ponsaelius
Cattermole was the worst possible candidate for captaincy anyway. Anybody with eyes could see it. Those kind of decisions just remind me what a total charlatan Bruce is. "Oh, tough tackling local midfielder - obvious captain" When in reality he's a pea brained fucking smog-charver who couldn't be more unsuited to captaining a team.
