ponsaelius
Orders from above Pardew's head? I never had Ashley down as the type of owner to dictate set-piece takers. Aye. Sounds like bollocks in all honesty.
KaKa
Orders from above Pardew's head? I never had Ashley down as the type of owner to dictate set-piece takers. If he did he's freakin' brilliant! Cabaye's set pieces were class. Whipped in with glorious precision and not that floaty light stuff Barton was peddling.

KaKa
Just think how different it might have been has Chris Mort remained as Chairman, I think a lot of this has to do with what Lambias has to say on club dealings. How I wish we had a Chairman like maybe David Dein Definitely come full circle now. Pining for Chris Mort. Sad aint it..
Guest bimpy474
Orders from above Pardew's head? I never had Ashley down as the type of owner to dictate set-piece takers. Think this is just bollocks surely , it would appear that Cabaye is far better at set-pieces, makes perfect sense for him to take them if so, Joey's tantrum if true just about sums up what wrong with him, immature. Sounds like bollocks in all honesty. I can quite easily believe the club telling Pardew to curb Barton's influence.

Sifu
Barton was told at Leeds that he wasn't to take any of the set pieces - corners/free kicks. The order apparently came from above Pardews head. Sorry if this has been covered earlier in the thread but if that is true then Pardew should have resigned. If that's true.............bloody hell. Its true in that Mckay said it. Reckon he's talking a load of bollocks there.

Skirge
Told by a coach at HT to let Cabaye take the set pieces, thats the rumour anyway. Led to a full on huge row, wonder how that made Cabaye feel.

ikri
Barton was told at Leeds that he wasn't to take any of the set pieces - corners/free kicks. The order apparently came from above Pardews head. Sorry if this has been covered earlier in the thread but if that is true then Pardew should have resigned. If that's true.............bloody hell. If Willie McKay has said that then I'll simply assume there was an order telling Barton to take all the set pieces, the man's a walking lie. Not sure what to make of all this. Barton has clearly decided that he wants away, or at least McKay has told him that there are loads of other clubs interested in signing him, and he's forced a move. I don't believe for a minute that had Barton been given the 4 year contract he (or McKay) wanted back in January he wouldn't be on Twitter now saying how amazing the new signings are. On the other hand, the club should have secured his contract back in January and never let it get to this point, they clearly have no idea how to deal with players who realise their own worth (or maybe that's the point, they feel they need to get rid of any players willing to speak against the club). Sifu
Cabaye pretty much took all the set pieces in the first half bar one occasion iirc.

BeloEmre
Barton is understood to have vented his anger at team-mates and Pardew after a poor Newcastle United performance at Elland Road, swearing and shouting at them before storming out of the dressing-room and onto the team coach. Once on board, he aggravated a combustible situation by hinting, on Twitter, at widespread dressing-room discontent at the direction in which the club is heading and warning of an impending relegation battle. So who's lying? Steven Wraight or Luke Edwards?
