David28
Sometimes you need someone in the dressing room having a go at the players telling them to pull their fingers out, and I can't see anyone on the pitch or in that dugout who could do that better than Barton to be honest Agree. Could be a reason why every manager has backed Joey. Allardyce, obviously after buying him. But also KK, Kinnear, Hughton, even Shearer till Liverpool and now Pardew have had only good words for him. So much about this "nothing but trouble in his years here".

Guest bimpy474
Team doesnt seem the same without him lacks that bit of passion. He was in the team at Stevenage, that team lacked passion too, means nowt he isn't in it, the players there need to pass it better.

TJM
Notice how Pardew rubbed his nose before he answered - typical body language of a liar. Beresford nailed it for me in his summing up of Bartons role in our team, fucking scandalous that we're driving him out.

Ketsbaia
There could easily be one more twist here. He clearly doesn't want to go there. But it wont be like those airport scenes in films: "Joey, don't leave. We've changed our minds. Sign our contract". I hope he just stays here for the year as planned, that'd be a great scenario for us right now.

FWIW Barton would probably have been rested tonight anyway. Not that it matters.

Of course, its a great show, (Monica Raymund is one of the best looking birds i've seen in a while) but it has also been proven that there are no facial signs when someone lies, its utter nonsense, looks good on a tv show though. The new French additions seem to have him non-plussed so sticking with the tried and tested in Joey will be right up his alley.

What I'm saying I guess is that Pardew seems confused about what sort of football he wants to play. It looks like he'd prefer to play direct football with player he knows but he's having to work with French footballers who don't know the system. Similar to when Tevez and Mascherano were thrust on him at West Ham.
Teasy
So far we've played Arsenal, Sunderland away and Scunthorpe away. None of those games are conducive to playing good Football (you don't try to outplay Arsenal unless you want a kicking and the other two are going to be scrappy games). I wouldn't judge the kind of Football we want to play just yet.

How does instructing your goalkeeper to hoof the ball 70 yds upfield help exploit the inferior oppositon's technical weaknesses?
