joeyt
There's no way the rejected WHU bid was less than 1.5 million surely? I heard it was 1 million From who?

wormy
Fuck sake. 'Nothing would surprise me with this club' is a lot fucking different to 'he wants to get rid of Joey Barton'. And I'm trying my damn hardest not to get drawn in by neesy's ridiculous fucking comments on Given and Zog.
Guest neesy111
Not a surprise with ashley at the club. He's cost cutting to an extent that it's an utter joke that we are trying to progress as a premier league side while trying to sell our best players. While the article is probably complete rubbish you do have to realise that players, managers and coaches come and go at every football club. We can't act like deluded idiots thinking Barton or anyone else for that matter will stay at our club for ever and having hissy fits every time theres a change, or even when the press write about a change. Our playing staff has been comparitively stable over the last couple of years and the recent midfield acquisitions of Gosling,Tiote and Ben Arfa, with no senior players leaving, would seem to refute your assertion that "he's cost cutting to an extent that it's an utter joke that we are trying to progress as a premier league side while trying to sell our best players" Well selling one of best players for the sake of getting rid of his wages while we are still in a relegation, would refute your argument. Remember the last time we did that in 2009 and we ended up relegated (i.e. n'zogbia and given). We should not be looking to sell anyone apart from Smith & Best. Oh sorry, I didn't realise it was a done deal. You're obviously right then. Interesting that you seem to have been upset by N'Zogbia's departure - most of us were glad to see the back of the work shy little pompous twat. It's clear something is up on the Barton front, and people seem to forget this is Mike Ashley we are dealing with at the club. Selling a first team player and having no replacement was the problem with that deal, a team should never sell a key player without having a replacement ready to be signed. We have plenty of experience with this at NUFC.

Sell a player in form, to keep a player that is out with a serious long-term injury.

Having Barton in and not having Guthrie or Smith in the team is a 1000% improvement. Barton's closing down high up the field was key to us winning v Liverpool & will be key for the rest of the season.

Barely played against Blackpool and the same obviously goes for the Man City game. By the way, we're not the only club Ben Arfa has ever played for, so although Ben Arfa has "done hardly nothing [sic]" for us, he's certainly done a lot of good things during his career so far.
