JH
EXCLUSIVE: Henry's let-off after spat with fan after defeat at Swansea By LAURA WILLIAMSON Thierry Henry will escape punishment for his angry confrontation with an Arsenal fan after Sky decided not to re-run potentially damning television footage. Viewers of Swansea’s 3-2 victory over the Gunners on Sunday saw Henry react to an away supporter and appear to beckon the fan on to the pitch at the Liberty Stadium. Arsenal insist the altercation was not heated and Henry merely told the fan he must support the team despite the disappointing result. But Sportsmail understands Sky Sports consulted a lip-reading expert to decipher the Frenchman’s response, which they deny, and have subsequently decided not to replay the film. Sky have also refused to release the footage to this newspaper and do not plan to broadcast it again. The FA, who have not received any complaints about the incident, would need to see the footage before deciding whether to act. Arsene Wenger, meanwhile, has insisted his players must ‘wake up and focus’ ahead of Sunday’s match against Manchester United. Arsenal have taken the lead in their last two league matches but lost both, leaving them in fifth place on goal difference, four points adrift of the Champions League spots. Wenger said: ‘That’s now twice, at Swansea and Fulham, where we have given the game away. It is time for us to wake up and be focused - we have a good opportunity to do that against Manchester United.’ Meanwhile, the future of Arsenal’s young Brazilian defender Pedro Botelho is in jeopardy after the 22-year-old, on loan at Rayo Vallecano, drove into a police car and then failed a breath test.
