The Prophet
Reading and listening to football opinions one of the most over used phrases is "big club". But what is a big club? What properties give it such a status?

Dave
Fanbase Size of stadium Likelihood of filling stadium Trophies won recently Trophies won in history Premier competitions competed in Turnover and cash Current players Past players Attraction to future players The definition of a 'big club' is an undecipherable combination of all, some or more of the above things. Quite frankly I find it a terrible subject. Newcastle United is the biggest club in the world to me, and that's all that matters.

Guest Phil K
Thanks for your fantastic contributions to the thread. I apologies for trying to generate some discussion on a forum, I'm disgusted with myself. Edit: Not Dave. Yeah. The responses are far more "tedious and repetative" than what they're rolling their eyes at. If they want an example of such, maybe they should look at their OWN past posts ! And the pic above is NOT funny or amusing in any way. You apologies? OK. You sound like one of the Meerkat adverts. Now that, while accidental, IS funny. Scoreboard82
A lot of people say "you can only be classed as a big club if you win trophies". I would disagree. Ipswich and Forest won a few things late 70's early 80's. Leicester won the league cup a couple of times fairly recently, i think. I wouldn't say they were big clubs. The toon are a big, but unsuccessful club IMO.

If you don't like the topic don't f***ing read it. Give over you numpty. Not an unfair comment, actually. If you don't agree, then argue, don't sneer at the sodding original post. wacko
"Big" is your club and all the bigger ones. Unless the other guy's club is clearly far bigger, in which case they're corporate-lapdog sell-outs with plastic fans, and you have the moral high ground.
