Danny Simpson (now retired)

Recommended Posts

Simpson was shocking against Scunthorpe

I think the reason he looked good last season was that he replaced James Perch who was an absolute car crash at right back, so Simpson naturally looked mint after replacing him

His game is very limited though, if he was brilliant defensively then you could probably overlook the fact he shits his shorts when he has the ball whilst going forward BUT his defensive game is nowt special

Next to no chance of us signing a right back so would not mind seeing what Tavernier can do at right back

He must be going through a nightmare and it has to be getting in the way of his game.  It's bad enough when the baby is born healthy, it must be terrible when things aren't right.

That's not strictly true. He was brilliant under Hughton, when he left his form dropped.

After watching him lately, he seems like a hoofer. He's an okay mediocre player wich lacks something as he defo got the speed to come more forward when needed too. But there is something about him wich makes me believe Taylor fits more into the new kind of play. More calm on the ball as of experience. Got a decent delivery when going forward, might even say one of the better ones at the club.

Even when taylor lacks the pace to do so, he is more comfortable with the ball at his feet to actually bypass a defender to get the cross in. And he also offers something from set pieces wich is a huge bonus. Those things makes me choose Raylor ahead of Simpson at this moment of time.

I don't know which Ryan Taylor you've been watching but the one I know has never bypassed a defender in his life.

Need some time out. It sounds like he is going through some personal issues with his daughter and it seems to be affecting him.

He showed in patches last season he is a good RB (i mean people were saying he should get called-up for England).

Play Raylor at RB until he has sorted himself out.

Absolutely f***ing pathetic today. Ryan Taylor outshone him on his wrong flank.

Not really.

Ryan Taylor did alright. He wasn't amazing but he did his basic jobs way better than Simpson, who was awful.

baby or not, his football has always been limited. He offers nothing going forward and defensively he is decent, never really outstanding

If defensively he was brilliant you could quietly ignore his failings going forward BUT he is not brilliant defensively

It is not an urgent area to sort out BUT we could easily improve
