JH
They needed a Uefa club licence they haven't so they should not be allowed to enter. Owners/Chairmen from the other PL clubs have already agreed to them getting parachute payment money early & now they are expecting to enter a competition they don't even have licence for above clubs who have spent time, effort & money getting there's in what a BUNCH OF CHEEKY TWATS. Pompey are playing a dangerous game here because they may/will get knocked out 1st round & then when they go begging to PL Owners/Chairmen again s*** like this will be remembered. They need to do a tactical retreat on this issue, praise PL clubs for there help so far, try & win the cup & then next year when they have no players at least the can ask to borrow some from PL clubs. And by reaching the FA Cup final Portsmouth have earned a place in the Europa League, regardless of their financial troubles.

They didn't apply for a Uefa club licence it is Portsmouth fault & no else's.
Guest neesy111
if a team has qualified on paper for a tournament they should be allowed to enter it i.e. milwall 2004 fa cup
SEMTEX
But they don't have the right licenses for European competition, so they haven't qualified.

PRL
Possibly the most ludicrous thing I've seen, they owe £1m to Spurs for Begovic, despite him never having played for or indeed moved to Spurs. http://football365.com/story/0,17033,8652_6106999,00.html

PRL
Another list of the weird stuff: http://football365.com/story/0,17033,8652_6107304,00.html If that genuinely is £340k owed to a masseuse then I guess Avram let his players have access to similar massage services as he enjoyed. AyeDubbleYoo
The list of creditors is terrifying TBH, good article here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/apr/21/portsmouth-report-creditors It's incredible how they have managed themselves into this crisis. To get away with repaying 25p in the pound seems a major let-off, could they go into liquidation still?
Guest Antec
Outstanding transfer instalments (£17.304m) Williamson - Watford (2 x £250,000, 2 x £500,000)
Rob W
There should be a proper public enquiry into this mess - and maybe legislation afterwards
Rob W
what is a disgrace is that some of the smaller creditors might go bust but someone is "secured" on £ 14 million
Liam Liam Liam O
what is a disgrace is that some of the smaller creditors might go bust but someone is "secured" on £ 14 million Yep, in the main the bigger creditors can probably absorb the losses (agents and the like), but the smaller businesses & individuals are fucked. MW
I'm a bit confused, how did qualifying for Europe get them in this mess? If anything wouldn't that increase revenue? Are they saying as a consequence for getting into Europe, they had to attract more players so they spent like mad and thats what the problem is? Think they dished out contracts which offered huge bonuses should they get into Europe, obviously assuming they wouldn't get there. They did, so had to pay out the bonuses.
