Colocho
He couldn't look at the camera when they interviewed him after the game. Brave of him to play tonight and I was made up that he scored. This. My mam was almost in tears watching it.....
Guest Stephen927
Become a bit if a minor legend in my eyes now. I would agree with that, he's a very likeable bloke.

cubaricho
What kind of contract is this dude on? 'Til the end of the season? Would love to sign him up longer - I think he's very underrated and could do some real damage in our team. He gives our team some actual movement which very few players in our squad do and he's one of the few arguably Prem quality players in our squad. Tooj
Really pleased for him last night. It's just a shame his pace and movement are wasted when he's up front as he's more often than not left feeding on the long ball scraps.

Guest firetotheworks
I like him, he has that Sibierski feel about him where you know he'll give everything for us. I like him.
Canuck
I thought it was class how the other players sheltered him after he scored. Word is that he was properly shattered and needed a minute to compose himself.
TRon
Turned out to be a great decision to play the game. Not only did he score a very big goal on an emotional night, but he's underlined his role as a front line striker. Hopefully he won't be wasted on the wing again. Yorkie
Get him up there with Harewood again. Blatantly the best we're gonna have to offer this season.
Keefaz
Get him up there with Harewood again. Blatantly the best we're gonna have to offer this season. I thought Shola was the best, or something? Or have we decided that was just a banana blip and he's now back to his normal self?
Yorkie
He's definitely the best at being in the box, kicking the ball, and it going in the goal as a result. It's every other aspect of the play where Shola's generally garbage... i don't think anyone's said owt differently have they?

Ronaldo
I'd trust Shola marginally more than Loven and Harewood to score goals in this league.
cubaricho
I'd start Shola with Loven at least another time to see if it can work.
Guest
I think it's Lovenkrands plus another. Whether it be Shola, Carroll or Ranger.
Yorkie
The mugs on here who reckon he's miles ahead of any of our other forwards want their heads f***ing looking at. He's a better finisher than anyone we've got here, by a fair distance. But when he's lumbering round like the embarrssing carthorse he was last night, it counts for virtually nothing. Hope we get Harewood back. Shola makes him look very mobile. How many of Lovenkrands' 4 goals in the last week do you think Shola would have put away? They're different sorts of striker. In the positions, i'd say Shola would have got all of them bar the header last night. But he wouldn't have been in those positions; can't do the slip rule pass with Ameobi ffs, like the first one against Plymouth. You need someone with a bit of zip. But conversely, i could say - i don't think Lovenkrands would have scored the goal at Sheff Wed. Aye Shola was offside, but he got the ball, beat the defender, and whacked it on the turn. It's not an ideal comparison really, cos they're different sorts of striker. I'd like to see them play together again, but if we bring Harewood back in, he'd probably get first dibs for me. He and Lovenkrands looked very good together.

Dokko
http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2010/01/23/peter-lovenkrands-fans-helped-me-so-much-72703-25668097/ PETER LOVENKRANDS has thanked the Toon Army for helping him get through an emotionally charged week. The courageous Dane’s decision to play on against West Brom just days after the loss of his father Bent captured the hearts of almost 40,000 fans. Lovenkrands, who flew to Denmark after the 2-2 draw with West Brom for his father’s funeral, has been granted some time to recuperate by Chris Hughton for today’s game with the Baggies. Speaking from Denmark, he said: “Everybody has shown extreme support, and it touched me deep in my heart the way the supporters stood behind me. “When my name was announced before the match I heard the way their roar increased. “When I scored I could hear the fans cheering louder than ever. It was a wild, roaring wall of noise. “I heard it as they were honouring me and my dad at the same time. “And as my team-mates came to celebrate with me, with hugs and words of approval, I simply couldn’t hold the tears in anymore.” Lovenkrands’ has also thanked Hughton for his support. He added: “The gaffer called me in for a conversation and we talked it over. “He asked if I was certain that I wanted to play. He explained to me that he was planning on starting me if I decided to play. “He also expressed that he would fully understand if I didn’t feel like playing “I had nothing else on my mind other than my dad during the match. It was my way of thanking him for all the support that he’s given me over the years. “I hope that he was looking down from above and took pride in me. “This is by far the toughest decision I have ever had to make. “But I did it for my dad. I know that he would have wanted me to play, and I know that he would have been proud that I had the courage to make this decision.” Lovenkrands has also opened his heart in a week in which memories of his father have came flooding back. He said: “My father would never have wished for more than me turning this situation into something positive through football. “My father was always my biggest fan. “He’s always stood by me and he was my first coach. “He never pushed me further than I wanted to and he was always standing at the sidelines when I was a kid. “I never forget the day I signed my first big contract with Rangers. “There I was standing in the middle of the pitch having my picture taken and he was silently looking on from the players tunnel with tears in his eyes. “He was so proud of what I had achieved and he is without a doubt the primary reason why I am the player I am today. “Without him I would never have made it this far. “My entire family were very proud of me after the West Brom match, and it feels good to know that I made the right decision. “Obviously the time to come will be tough with the burial and what follows but I feel that I am strong enough to cope. “Football meant so much to my dad and it will be the way that I can send my thoughts to him.”
