One Premiership club to go into administration before the end of the season?

As the title says, David Gold has just mentioned this in his press conference. Though he wouldn't name names, it's fairly obvious who it is. He said their debt was higher than the value of the club, so I think it's Portsmouth.

The way clubs spend these days, something has to give, there could be a fair few Premiership clubs in danger. Our debt is fairly minimal, well, compared to what it was, otherwise we would have been up there in the bookies favourites to go bust.

The one thing Ashley does right, paying off the stadium debt, and he only did it because he had to cos of a clause.

I would be surprised if it wasn't Portsmouth. They are in serious shite. Am surprised that their players have not put in transfer requests in this window.

They keep saying they don't need to sell players, but they have tried to peddle David James to Stoke to get him off the wage bill. The deal broke down because Stoke wouldn't pay all of his high wages. Portsmouth are the obvious team, Man City will have debt higher than the value of the club but they are in no danger of going bust right now... Liverpool?

If it was that bad they would be selling players.

who is worth anything in there squad? say you need 30million to clear debts, is it really worth selling 4-5 players that probs wouldnt even cover half that, they cant bring anyone in even loans, if they know its coming maybe there trying to get as many points as they can before they get hit with administraion and the points they would lose.

The end of the year is 11 months away. If they sold players now and go down they've got no chance. If they hang on until June and somehow stay up then they have a chance, I guess.

Apologies, end of the season he said.

10 point deduction for going into Administration. I think that would kill Portsmouth's slim chances of staying up. They may as well try to sell players now before they're forced to sell them at fire sale prices. They seem doomed either way.

Portsmouth probably haven't accepted transfer requests because as soon as that happens then silly bids will come in for players.  Maybe they are letting other teams believe they don't want to sell in order to force them into thinking they need to bid more than they do.

Sneaky bid for Prince-Boateng then?

Wouldn't mind if we did in the summer, assuming we go up..

Anyone seen van den Borre play? Remember him on FM a few years back, cracking young prospect back then :)

Looked ok against Cov in the cup. Had plenty of energy if nothing else, was still makin 50yrd runs deep into extra time

Sounds promising. On FM he was quite versatile and according to Wikipedia this is true. Apparently he's preferred position is CM/DM but is being deployed as RB for Brussels and club sides. Even though he's only on loan from Genoa, could he be worth a bid since the italians doesn't seem to rate him? Considering our options on the CM/DM/RB positions...

Sky really have ruined football. There'll be a lot more like Pompey in the next 2-3 years

sky?

Its mismanagment of the clubs by the owners.

Also, the moment Roman opened the pl for the super rich, who injected even more money,

the natural balance between clubs was ruined.

Premier leauge is now diagnosed with financial cancer, all know something is wrong,

but no one have the remedie yet, and the weakest(most mismanaged) will die.

Hope most clubs get the mess sorted out, but will they manage it in time?

Yes Sky. From the minor things like changing kick off times stupidly late with no consideration of the fans. To creating the PL, whcih has now distanced itself from the football league. It was great to start off with and yes clubs have made money, but to stay in the PL (where the money is because of Sky) 'smaller' clubs like Pompey, Burnley etc will/have to overspend to stay in which they just can't do. Thus ruining clubs and creating a bigger void between the PL and the FL.
