Guest Heneage
Or he could just help them get promoted and then they can send him back. No financial commitment beyond the summer, which is ideal if he's as s*** in the PL as everyone seems to say he is. Don't see why the club would even agree to that. JH
No player, first team or otherwise, should be leaving the club until a replacement is signed and sealed. The squad is thread bare as it stands.

I don't know why we're sending him there in the first place. Well maybe we've agreed a deal where if they get promoted, QPR will increase the fee to £8million to match what Liverpool were offering. If we are talking hypothetically at least my hypothetical crap has more substance than yours

ChrisMcQuillan
So long as we replace him. That's the most important thing here.
JH
So long as we replace him. That's the most important thing here. Yup. But my reason for wanting Routledge to stay is my lack of faith that we'll find a replacement this window.
ChrisMcQuillan
Oh, I wasn't following on from you. Just stated by point haha. I agree with you, mate. I don't think we'll get anyone better in.
ohmelads
Whilst I don't rate Routledge at this level (6 Premier League clubs, 0 goals), it would be mad to loan him without a replacement definitely coming in. Him and Jonas are the only fit specialist wingers at the club. Ben Arfa's out for a while yet and may go up front anyway, while Barton is our only other option there. This makes no sense at all unless someone better is coming in to replace him this month. Perhaps Pardew has been told to sell before he buys.
La Parka
Wouldn't surprise me if the expect kazenga to fill the hole, or airey.

Anderson
Looks to be all but done. Clubs seem to be delaying announcing it though, possibly waiting until we have someone else in?
AyeDubbleYoo
Ah right, cool. I don't want Routledge to go out, unless we have another wide man coming in. I actually wouldn't mind giving SWP a chance (preferably on loan first) - always thought he's a decent player and mainly gets criticised because he appears to be the streotypical "small, fast, no footballing brain" (possibly also because he's black) which is a load of bollocks in the majority of cases. AyeDubbleYoo
I definitely think there's an element of racism in it, probably subconscious. Similar to how Theo Walcott has 'no footballing brain', even though it's no way worse than 90% of other players. For clarity - I was pointing out how wrong that view would be, not agreeing with it! Similar to how Theo Walcott has 'no footballing brain', even though it's no way worse than 90% of other players. for that to be true you'd have to give some more specific examples 'cause both the players you mention are kick and run merchants as far as i'm concerned, that's their skill anelka, however, didn't display a lot of that in his early days (footballing brain) but he has developed it amazingly well and he's a very gifted all round striker with great vision and awareness so, don't know, am i racist? probably
AyeDubbleYoo
I should give some more specific examples, you're right, I could probably think of some as I hear the same cliches from commentators and pundits nearly every week. For me Walcott definitely isn't a kick and run merchant, there's much more about him than that. Keiron Dyer was one I used to think was unfairly tarred with that brush too. Anyway, not an argument it's really worth having in this thread, I'm not saying anyone is 'racist' as such. Everyone uses all sorts of cliches and stereotypes to refer to players. I don't care if he is white or black the only thing that matters is that he plays good for us if he joins us. Even if he was white i wouldn't want him here. AyeDubbleYoo
I knew I shouldn't have posted that. To be even more clear than I thought I already had been, I'm not saying anyone wouldn't want SWP here 'because he's black'. I was just airing my suspicion that sometimes, probably subconsciously, players like SWP/Routledge/Walcott/Dyer get branded as having 'no footballing brain' and I think that might have a (probably subconscious) racial component.
