Guest smoggeordie
...changing the stadium name to Belgravia Park if they brought us regular champions league football? Just a thought.
Rich
Not at all, because everyone would still call the place St. James'. Small price to pay.

Guest
NSG, you've just set off HTT to write a 1,000 word dissertation on why we should never sell our souls to the devil. Personally, it wouldn't bother me as like Pipkin said, we'd still call it St James'.

Rich
Any ideas how much stadium sponsorship brings in, anyway? In reality, how much would changing the name make us per season?

If Belgravia also owned the club, nothing whatsoever. As outside sponsorship, naming rights run into millions, but we'd be more likely to get a Bolton kind of amount than an Arsenal kind of amount. Understood that about Belgravia, was more thinking along the lines of Northern Rock (they'd most likely get first dibs.) £5m isn't as much as I expected and perhaps isn't a sum worthy of the proposal... unless you believe that every little helps. I'd just rather someone proper rich bought us without altering much of our tradition, ala Chelsea.
Colos Short and Curlies
Well Arsenal got £100m for 15 years - £6.6m a year. Guess we'd be looking for something similar. Considering we will tend to pay for players in installments a similar deal would probably be worth a one off £20m kitty every 5 years

M4
no thanks, just like when New York changed their name to The Red Bulls Not exactly the same as that though... For it to be similar to that, the club would have to be renamed Belgravia FC and wear orange kits or something.
