Guest Heneage
You lot are still picking Michael Johnson? Are you disputing his talent? Assuming you are of course reffering to his alleged drinking problems, why is it impossible for a youngster to turn his career around? There's nothing to suggest he has a bad attitude (i don't think), therefore i'd like to think we are club that is prepare to give a talented youngster a chance. If we can sort out a reasonable deal, he'd be a decent signing for us. Bad attitude? What about the fact he got himself into the mess that he was by putting on a lot of weight, and getting pissed for 8 months? He's also just been out for a year, to take him would be crazy. Pilko
I think the fact he started off looking like a skinnier Russell Howard and in 18 months turned into the third Mitchell brother may have put a lot of people off.
iklgizmo
We need someone like Phillips, someone who has proved they can score in the prem, has experience, and would be happy to sit on the bench for large parts of the games
Guest Stephen927
Johnson has been out for most of this season with a knee injury.

I don't think he needs to worry about competition as long as he's 'injured'. Unless, by 'competition for his place', you meant the queue at the bar being six deep? steve_69
The guy weighs about 20 stone for fucks sake. We need pace in the side not some wheezing bloater with a drink problem.

He's managed to score 14 goals for us, this year.

Weezertron
Aye, I'm quite happy with the restrictions placed on new recruits by Ashley. Hopefully they'll be canny strict and stick with their guns with regards to being under 26. Sorry Harewood like, but move along.

Other areas are more important anyway. Edit: Would still prefer someone younger and probably better.

LoveItIfWeBeatU
Players based at European clubs being much cheaper than British based players isn't as true as it once was. The Pound is worth around 1.14 Euro at the moment. It used to be worth around 1.50 Euro per Pound. That makes a big difference to a transfer fee. It also affects the wages a European based player is happy to accept.

Merseyside Mag
Atleast with the way we're set up currently, i am 99% certain no more Luques or Boumsongs are going to bought in the summer. I would be happy with a number of 1 million pound signings in the mould of Mike Williamson, who has been immense value for money imo.
