The incident took place at Newcastle Central Station on 8 August 2009, when hundreds of Sunderland fans returned from a friendly match in Scotland. The men, now aged between 19 and 51, pleaded guilty to affray at Newcastle Crown Court. They will be sentenced next month. A further eight fans are due to appear in court next week. Fifteen Newcastle United fans were sentenced last year after admitting violent disorder in connection with the same incident. All were granted bail pending sentencing which is to take place at a later date but...but...but i thought it was the police who done it all and they were just innocent young lads after apeacable day out at the match. At the time Northumbria Police described the violence as the "worst in the Northumbria forces history" and the fact the Violent Disorder charge got dismissed out of hand in court tells me someone from Northumbria was telling lies.Clearly something happened otherwise they wouldn't have admitted to Affray and looking at that list of names there is some very well known Sunderland hooligans on it but from reports you here it seems like it has been a complete set-up by Northumbria Police and its failed. northumbria police went over the top in their description, the sunderland fans said they done nothing wrong......the truth lies with the fact they've pleaded guilty to affray. Yes however at the game at Hearts it came over the tannoy that a special train would be leaving Edinburgh and heading DIRECT to Sunderland,this was the train where it all kicked off and was a complete set-up by Northumbria Police to get jail terms for a few well known troublemakers. Why would they get on a train direct to Sunderland if they wanted to cause bother with the Gremlins? because any train going to sunderland from the north has to go through newcastle. i'm not too au fait with the exact details of the case but are you insinuating that northumbria police informed the gremlins where the sunderland fans would be ? The was supposed to be going direct to Sunderland,no stopping according to NP.Gremlins could have been waiting for the "normal" train that pulled into Newcastle about half an hour after it all kicked off. were they waiting on the platform or did they get off and go the main concourse ? also, i've been on a football special and we got off basically where we wanted, also the police tell you anything to get you on the trains and away from their patch without them necessarily trying to set up a fight. if the police were trying to set them up with the gremlins wouldn't it have made more sense to let them get the normal train you think the gremlins were waiting for ? They made them get off the train and then it kicked off for a bit and then herded them down into the metro station where the Gremlins then appeared. Coincedence? kicked off for a bit "then" the gremlins appeared ? How exactly do you force someone to engage in violent disorder? If it was a trap to lead them to the Gremlins, how come it kicked off before any Newcastle hooligans were even on the scene? the Gremlins(who have also been in court for this) Yeah, difference being that the 'normal' fans on that side of the river haven't been clamouring for their hooligan element to be let off and painting them as martyrs and victims.
