A little look at him, and he was in the same Argentina side that won the World Youth Championships alongside Coloccini in 2001.

Haha, Nicolas Medina and Julio Arca in that side.

Didn't the former cost £3m or something daft?

Not one of them has gone on to be a real star like, a lot of medioce top level players in that list.

Aye. Massive unfullfilled potential with D'Alessandro and Saviola.

Another little titbit from France.

Argentinian defender from Toulouse (again) Mauro Cetto, out-of-contract in June. St-Etienne have supposedly offered a 3-year contract to him, Montpellier are interested, but says he has other intentions (Lille, Newcastle & Panathinaikos).

Joe Bennett keen to repay Boro for big break

RISING star Joe Bennett is ready to ignore Premier League interest this summer and help Tony Mowbray’s side to push for promotion next season.

The Sunday Sun understands Sunderland, Newcastle and Liverpool have all watched the talented England Under-21 international recently but he believes he “owes” Boro for handing him his big break.

The Teessiders are under no pressure to sell the left-back, who signed a new long-term contract in January, but will nevertheless be reassured by the Academy graduate’s commitment to the cause.

“I think I’ve got a lot to give back to Middlesbrough Football Club. They’ve been really good to me over the years I’ve been here,” he said. “I’m happy here and Boro are my No 1 priority.”

The defender has been enthused by the progress made on Mowbray’s watch and reckons that if another 15 games were added, the season Boro could have been promotion contenders. As he points out, it bodes well for next term.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen over the summer with people leaving, people coming in or whatever but we’ve got a good team,” he said.

“If we had another 15 games we might have been able to get into the play-offs. We’re playing well, we’ve got to carry that on next season.”

I'm guessing they rehashed this from our press but a random Belgian website reckons Newcastle is Lukaku's likely destination for €22m.

And this one completely slipped by...

http://www.trouville-deauville.maville.com/actu/actudet_-Malherbe-lance-le-pari-Ibrahima-Tandia_spo-1761786_actu.Htm

"Last week, Ibrahima Tandia was in Newcastle, where he trained with the senior squad. Today, he was expected back in Newcastle for a further 2-day trial. Tandia won't be travelling, yesterday he signed a pre-contract agreement for a professional 3-year contract with Caen, which will come into effect on June 1st.

Chelsea were keen, Lille & Rennes also impressed by him."

Quote from Tandia's agent...

"The aim was to keep him in France, not to send an 18-year old kid abroad to work!"

Quote from Tandia...

"In England, I could have went for the money, but I'd not have been playing!"

Caen are managed by Franck Dumas as well.

http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/transfer-rumours/6525/3/newcastle-ready-swoop-sevilla-midfielder-romaric-cut-price-deal

Sevilla are set to dump attacking midfielder Romaric after a row with the Ivory Coast international, and Newcastle are ready to snap up the player for a cut-price fee.

As reported in Spanish daily Diario de Sevilla, the 27-year-old hit out at manager Gregorio Manzano after spending much of the season on the bench and Sevilla are now ready to let him go.

The former Le Mans ace has been offered around, with Newcastle keen to boost their attacking prowess after losing striker Andy Carroll to Liverpool in January.

Sevilla paid £7m for Romaric in 2008, but would be willing to accept a lower fee for the player to ship him out.

This might be true because Ashley wants to develop him and sell him for 50 in couple of years. plus it will calm doubters claim he doesn't spend money. If he break the club record and buy someone for 22 million.
