Courted by PSG and Valencia striker Kevin Gameiro Lorient has also been approached by Newcastle. After submitting a new offer of nearly twelve million, the Magpies have prompted the French international to visit their facilities.

Available in June 2012, Lorient striker Kevin Gameiro (24) remains the top priority of recruitment of Paris Saint-Germain, which has also targeted Dimitri Payet (St Etienne), Alou Diarra (Bordeaux) and Milan Bisevac (Valenciennes ). Robin Leproux, club president of the Capital, has yet to meet his counterpart Hake, Loïc Féry, last week. The Capital Club is ready to align with the current rates (10-12 M €). But the former Strasbourg is still waiting whether teammates Claude Makelele will achieve or not snatch third place in the classification, documentation of qualification for the preliminary round of the next edition of the Champions League.

In addition, Kevin Gameiro still favors the trail in Valencia, who offered him a four-year contract. While the French international has expressed the wish to be fixed as soon as possible on its future, Spanish leaders have recently renewed negotiations with their counterparts in Lorient, who had brushed aside a proposal from the hand of seven million euros payable in installments during the last Mercato. If departure of the Italian Giuseppe Rossi FC Barcelona, Villarreal is also on the move. Ditto for Lyon, Lille or Tottenham, who face yet supervised in Nice (2-0, 37th day of Ligue 1) the last weekend. Harry Redknapp, the manager of the Spurs, had made the trip.

But as we announced earlier, Newcastle was also positioned on the concrete case of Kevin Gameiro (Ed.: Mevlut Erding and Djibril Cisse are also tracked), which however did not necessarily seem very excited by the Premier League. In search of a successor to Andy Carroll, who left Liverpool, the Magpies have sent a new offer estimated at around twelve million euros (Sheikh M'Bengue, Toulouse left-back has also been the subject of a new proposal). The native of Senlis was also invited to visit the facilities of the club coached by Alan Pardew which operates including the former Lyon and Marseille player Hatem Ben Arfa (the former coach of West Ham has also targeted wingers Gervinho, Jeremy Menez and Charles N'Zogbia). Even if for the moment, Paris Saint-Germain and Valencia remain above the player's preference.

So Valencia have offered 7 million in installments and we've offered 11 up front. Seems similar to the Owen deal really. We've also upped our bid for M'Bengue and we're keen on Gervinho, Menez & Zog. If we don't get Gameiro our backup plan is Erding or Djibril Cisse. In summary, bring on the French.

If the player's reluctant to come, I'm a bit wary of continuing to obstruct his other possibilities by outbidding everyone else. (as you say, the Owen scenario)

There may be personal issues for the player, rather than footballing ones. eg a wife or partner who would prefer to move south or stay in France.
