I think some of this is incorrect according to what I'm seeing roll out on twitter @Sidlowe It's  Casillas, Valdés y Reina; Capdevila, Ramos, Puyol, Albiol, Marchena, Piqué, Arbeloa, Xabi, Cesc, Xavi, Bisquets, Iniesta, Navas, Silva, Javi Martínez, Mata, Torres, Llorente, Pedro, Villa.

So Valdes, in, no Senna or Guiza .

Sport got it wrong it seems. This is the official list:

Casillas, Reina, Valdés, Albiol, Arbeloa, Capdevila, Marchena, Piqué, Puyol, Sergio Ramos, Xabi Alonso, Busquets, Cesc, Iniesta, Javi Martínez, Silva, Xavi, Navas, Mata, Pedro, Llorente, Fernando Torres and Villa.

So no Güiza, De Gea, Senna (!), Diego López, Azpilicueta, Cazorla, Negredo.

Big move to leave Senna out, but his legs are gone. Javi Martínez lacks his experience, but hopefully he'll rise up to the occasion and he is a very good player.

I'll have a go, in a 4-4-2 narrow diamond:

Casillas

Capdevilla

Pique

Puyol

Ramos

Senna

Xavi

Iniesta

Silva

Torres

Villa

Replace Senna with Alonso.

That teams a bit physically weak, imo, Shola. Striking lack of power in the midfield. Senna was an important part of that team because he provided that.

It doesn't matter how 'weak' it is when the 'strong' players on the opposition can't get near them.

Spain will spend the majority of the tournament in possession and Alonso sitting infront of the back 4 should free up the others to annihilate teams.

Perhaps their lack of physicality may see them struggle when/if they face the Italians or Germans like :dontknow:

Just bet Nigeria to get put out in the quarter finals. Qualifying second, ahead of greece and beating france in the last 16

Even Barcelona employ a Busquets, Toure, or Keita. There's no anchor in that team you put out.

Great bet except for the part where we get put out. That's never happening, ever.

Do they actually have a holding midfielder in their final squad? Marchena?

Busquets.

Javi Martínez. Piqué's been played there too.

Was gonna say Alonso myself.

So yes, yes they do.

Xabi Alonso is decent in the holding role too. I consider him more of a playmaker though. In qualification we usually played him in the holding role against shit opposition and brought Busquets/Senna against tougher sides.

Spains team is unfair tbh.

Back 5 pretty much selects itself.

Would like to see a Barca-style system with:

Xavi-Alonso-Silva

Pedro-Torres-Villa

No Iniesta?

Honestly have no idea

Too many bloody good players. Kind of forgot about Iniesta with him having missed most of the season.

Shame about Cazorla. No idea if he's been good or not since the Euros, but he's one of my first buys on FM when I'm a decent club.
