IIRC none of their starting XI is actually from Bilbao oddly enough. They are known to predate on other basque clubs' youth setups. They pretty much have to sign every basque that shows a wee bit of talent to make it. Isn't that part of the reason Sociedad now sign foreigners? No, they have signed foreigners since it's been allowed. But they have had angry clashes over youngsters. Bilbao buying Etxeberría was an huge affront.
