Interpolic
He really needs a General manager in there with football savvy who has been in and around the game and knows how to exploit its various demands. I've never fully understood the concept that this sort of person exists. What sort of person are you thinking of? Gerard Houllier. Be Perfect for the Role The second things go a bit wrong though it's 'Houillier's replacing Hughton', - this happens all the time in this situation. Even happened with Avram Grant at a club like Chelsea when everyone thought he was a no-hoper, although I know he's good mates with the Russian. Segun Oluwaniyi
I think having a general manager or DOF is simply the best way to run a club. f you look at many big continental clubs (Actually, US sports are probably the best example, the managers change all the time, but the transfer strategy remains in place because those who handle this aspect of the team are still in place. IT smooths out transition periods and allow you to take advantage of the transfer market if you do it correctly.

Dave
I don't want a DoF. Some people about the club who know anything about fucking football would help though, rather than casino managers.

Segun Oluwaniyi
Just look at how many managers we've had in the past ten years. Who gives a damn if we are undermining the manager? Consistency should be the main goal and a Dof or section of the club responsible for working on transfer policy accomplishes this.

STM
I'd love to see someone like Jack Charlton at the club but not as a DOF, more a chief executive like Bobby Charlton is at Man Utd. The role doesn't have to be technical though. It would just be nice to have a knowledgable local fella in a high position who has the clubs best interests at heart, as an advisor to the board and perhaps even a representative in transfers or within the media (a face if you like). SBR would have been amazing in this role, RIP.
