I cant stop laughing at Cattermole, this tough lad from boro looked like a scared rabbit.  Never seen someone s*** their pants so much in a game.

Showed up for what he is - a very average player.

Can't believe Bruce paid so much for him, gave him a huge contract AND made him captain. He's a liability in today's football and very ineffective as a player.

Sunderland had better players on the bench and dare I say it out on loan, who would have been better suited to yesterday's atmosphere.

Thanks Brucie !

Even in the tunnel before the game, his eyes were wide open had a look on his face like he was about to be executed.

Well done self confessed geordie hater.

You made my day.

Hoofing people will only get you so far, i cant beleive the mackems are complaining that he cant tackle as refs have it in for him.  Without his fucking hoffing of other playerrs he has nothing else to bring to the game.  He is just a body on the pitch.

Aye, totally noticed that. I said to the missus: "He looks like he's shitting it! He's Cattermole...the one who's supposed to be a nutter!"

Missus: "He looks like a little boy separated from his mummy in a busy MetroCentre!"

I must confess...I'd never bothered looking in to him or taking any notice of him when he was always mentioned (barely can be arsed to check any of them out). I was expecting a brutish nutcase looking person.

Typical sunderland type lad, hoffs people and has little ability to actually play football.

Sundland lads lovem.

Aye, that would have capped the game off, if he had ended up sent off too - he was getting rather wound up just before he was subbed.

I'll never forget Cattermole for bursting into tears on the pitch when he played for Burra, and they were getting thumped at home by Villa (I think it was) - he wasn't sent off or anything, just the whole situation was getting to him.  :mackems:

Watching that celebration was the height of pride. Showed the togetherness, the will to win, everything that's right with this team right now :smitten:

RTG is such a guilty pleasure at the moment.

had a £20 bet with a mate aswell as the loser having to have his photo taken with the opposite teams top holding up a bit of paper saying 'the better team won'. Cheers brucey

The match thread is quality from start to finish

I spent the early hours of last night trawling through their site, must say I've never felt so happy reading the before and after comments, the lot of them look like total bellends.

S.Bruce

We were blown away by a far superior team on the day and we have to take it on the chin. To be three or 4-0 down and down to ten men in your local backyard, of course there is a frustration. But the thing is they did stick at it.

“It is not easy coming out to answer questions but you must make sure you respond to it, get up and come back again.

“That is my job. I have been beaten badly before – maybe not to the extent of that – but how you recover is what makes you what you are.”

As a boyhood Newcastle fan, Bruce had been looking forward to his first Tyne-Wear derby in any capacity.

Having been made to wait a year by the Magpies’ presence in last season’s Championship only greatened his disappointment.

He said: “Probably with the occasion it has to be up there as my most painful career defeat, of course it has

Made me smile.

Gotham Town was superb last night (if you ignored the fancy-dress twats), Hey Jude playing when the highlights were on the telly. :smitten: They also played the Collocini song and Daydream Believer.

They played Local Hero towards the end. Unreal.
