I've seen it again and I don't think Williamson can have any complaints really. If the FA were to set a precedent and introduce some consistency they'd now have to sweep every game looking for bannable offences. We all know they only do it when it suits them though, take Huddlestone's stamp for example.

It's a bit of a piss-take that they are able to rely on video replays when determining retrospective bans but they refuse to entertain their use for decisions during the game...

Absolutely ridiculous.

But I suppose this is the Football Association we're talking about after all......

not so much so, are we going to scrutinise every decision in every game. how many times in a game will it be brought back because the video ref saw something. even in the de jong case refs were disagreeing over it so is the video ref in charge or the ref on the pitch ?

My post wasn't an argument in favour of using the replays as such, more simply pointing out that they use it when it suits and at other times say it can't be used as it can't be implemented at all levels. I wonder how many Conference players are banned retrospectively using TV footage?

Retrospective refereeing corrections such as these that we have fallen foul of recently are all well and good, if something wrong has been done then a player should be punished for it especially if the referee missed it during the game.  Or should I see only if a ref doesn't see it!!

However, what if a referee gives a penalty for something he thinks he saw which afterwards is proved by TV evidence to be wrong they can hardly take the penalty away, or unsend someone off should the decision to do that be erroneous as well....

It is a complete crock of bullshit and I am completely furious about it.  Biased, unfair and completely subjective - it would not happen to one of the bigger more successful teams in our league.

I'd still like to see this supposed punch by Jason Roberts on Coloccini.

whats that ? never even heard about it.

Roberts swung an upper cut at Coloccini in front of the East Stand. Looked like Colo managed to dodge a full contact and pushed Roberts in chest. One of the rags the next day said Coloccini could be in trouble for raising his hands! Unbelievable!

By the way, was any reason ever given why Tom Huddlestone wasn't charged with violent conduct fir a clear stamp a couple of weeks ago that the ref missed? Assuming of course that the reason wasn't "he plays for Spurs".

Of course you didn't, the had bigger media had bigger fish to fry in Joey Barton from that match.  It's just more proof that the FAs policy on this is based on who Match of the Day feel the need to crucify and show repeatedly than having someone looking over the whole match and finding incidents that the referee actually missed, making the rule unfair and subjective.

How many players have been charged like Williamson has and then subsequently found not guilty?  Many?

Shearer.

That was definitely an accident though. :pow:

An accident?! Don't be so ridiculous! How can anyone still think it wasn't deliberate??

Lennon clearly headbutted Shearer in the foot!

Anyone going to be up before the kangaroo court after this weekends games, or is it just Newcastle players that the media like to go for ?

Just the Toon players. That WBA player has escaped. Suppose we could call:
