somebody explain this stevenage history malarky.

Drawn against them in 1998. Away. There was a very bitter and public argument over where to play the game.

Stevenage management and board took on textbook smallclub mentality and tried to act all hard.

Only because SKY said they would only show the game if it was played at Stevenage & then another part of the Murdoch empire The Sun sponsored there shirts.

But Paul Fairclough there gaffer was cunt throughout the tie.

Aye remember that, complete utter cunt he was.

Dalgleish's comments after the last time were classic

My memory's blank. What did he say?

Wish them all the best in the league, but said he hoped they lost their next game.

When we were drawn away against them in 97ish there were concerns about their ground's ability to host the tie. We offered to host it as St James' with them getting the gate, or something. Behaved like c**ts and made out that we were a big club trying to push poor little Stevenage around.

Going toe-to-toe with Paxmaon newsnight he said "We will play them on Hackney marshes"

People keep forgetting that we have attracted most of our fans in recent years so things that has happened in 97-98 is very distant for some.

Hmm, I'm sure we got quite a few of our fans from the Entertainers era which was before that?

Tbf im only 16, and only really started supporting us and caring about us when i was like 8-9, which was around 4 years after this Stevenage game. I was only 4 when it was being played.

Cheers, quite fancy going, but its over £50 on the train from Leeds so might not bother.

You'll need a season ticket holder to get a ticket for it.  Will be loads wanting to go.
