'He will be handsomely rewarded if he brings success to Newcastle United and will not be rewarded if he fails.'

Define success, this season. Anyone?

Presumably it's not Premier League survival.

This is a fascinating experiment. At least all the cards are being laid out on the table from the outset. For the very first time you could argue that Mike Ashley is going to get the manager he wants on his terms. This could end in disaster, and probably will, but its high time this regime were clear on what the hell they want to do and just freakin' do it. If it fails miserably then everyone can then just move on once and for all. Pretty crazy stuff though. It's going to be interesting to watch that's for sure.

Did you think it was 'fascinating' and 'interesting' when we employed Joe Kinnear?

Please don't misunderstand me. Not saying this is a good thing. It just kind of clears things up really. The sooner they get it out of their system the better, at least everyone knows what is going on now. They clearly feel they can run a football club in this manner, but it's something that has never been done before. If it fails then they will have to go, because it would be on them 100%. They then can't blame the fans, the Geordie messiah, or whatever other silly thing they have been blaming. It is crazily ambitious and overly optimistic and it will be interesting to see what happens, we can only just pray it doesn't cost the club from a footballing perspective. As you have correctly said the biggest problem is the calibre of manager that will be willing to get involved in this "scheme".

What can success even mean in a world with Man Utd and Arsenal still steamrolling, Chelsea and Man City able to outspend anyone else, Spurs, Everton and Liverpool with well built squads performing to their level ... even with solid investment it will take time to build us back up to where we could compete with the lower end of that lot, on a shoestring, 10th would have to be considered success.

If that was a players contract then everyone would be praising him, whats fucked him up though is not the fact that it's a bad idea in theory, it's the fact that his controls over transfer funding, wages etc will forever mean that the club can't be successfull, atleast not in the way he wishes judging by his choice to sack Hughton.

'No signing-on fee and no big compensation clauses in their contracts.'

Whilst I actually agree with the general principle of not rewarding failure, this part clearly rules out us poaching a manager that is currently or was until very recently in work. It wasn't really in doubt of course.

Pardew, Hoddle, Curbishley, Francis, Kinnear, Bassett, Wilkinson. That's the standard we're gunning for with this.

Well, at least whoever comes in will have every motivation to do their very best, and if they're crap they will suffer for it. Problem being if they're crap the club itself will still suffer for it too, as poor results will mean the likelihood of ending up back in the championship.

Exactly, and its a nice mask to hide behind at the same time - 'Im not going to do a Portsmouth etc'... but its all cost cutting to make the club attractive for a buyer.

Well, people are fed up with them anyway, so making the club as attractive for a buyer as possible might not be a bad thing if this is indeed the case.

I blame fat Sam. That "casa St. James" stunt clearly pissed them off hugely.

With the number of ridiculous cycles they've now been through, Allardyce would probably have been ideal on more than one occasion tbh.

If that's true the man has a mental illness, is he expecting it to catch on ? does he think other clubs owners will join in and think he is onto something.

I guess even Parew would not work under those conditions, he's a fkn lunatic f he thinks any manger will accept that.

McNally claims we sounded Oneill out but he won't come on those terms. There's a surprise

I don't think I would go there on those terms, not that they are a bad terms or anything, just I wouldn't trust Ashley not to change the rules.

It isnt, though the club is effectivley on hold until he does. And this is while he is, most likely, asking for a stupid price. And thats where we should try & force that price down by boycotting.

This, but we need a manager that keeps the club on hold in the Premiership.

To be fair I did say "I", as in a bloke on the street, not someone who has been a football manager before.

Ashley's biggest problem isn't he contract, it's for them to trust him not to change the rules midway through the game, hence why I think a lot of targets won't even sit down with him to discuss a contract.

even some poor pisshead/smackhead big issue selling homeless wreck of a human would have to think long and hard before saying yes to those terms.
